I also got Young Warriors VHS tape yesterday and watched it last night.
What a movie it was, crazy, wild and fantastic!

The first 20 minutes we can see a great T&A comedy film
but after that it turns into a vigilante vengeance flick.
And WOW what an ending!

just like the UK tape, this Finnish VHS tape was also trimmed.
But it sure is better than nothing.

The movie has a cool cast:

James Van Patten, Anne Lockhart, Tom Reilly, Mike Norris, Ernest Borgnine and Richard Roundtree.

Boys getting some rest in the dorm and planning their next move.
 -

Cool theme tune and synth score, funny pledge jokes, wicked animation sequences, cool action
and lots of wtf stuff to keep things entertaining.

Classic!

Definitely a crazy cool movie!

I'm thinking that at least one Rewinder will have some appreciation for this movie. Ya think?

Haven't seen it in years, but it has elements of "The Brotherhood of Justice" it seems.

I've seen it!

Great write up Atomik! I watched this one this last year....I knew I wrote something on the Rewind about it this is what I had wrote:

"OMG I watched this last night!

Shogun hit the nail on the head..........totally starts out "normal-teen comedy" then bammmmmmmmmmm dark and awful but still "cheesy"

actually was a pretty cool "b" movie."

Atomik I'm so shocked you didn't bring up the fact Linnea Quigley is briefly in it! haha

James Van Patten is actually pretty likeable and you keep thinking man he's a hunkier, younger version of his dad...lol

I remember it.. never actually seen it though.
Sounds like there are more than a few similarities between this and Savage Streets (1984)..

great review atomik,i'm pleased you liked it,i had a gut feeling you would!

back in 2006 they had a special screening of this and malibu high at the new beverly theatre in l.a http://www.hollywoodbookandposter.com/grindhouse.html with a q&a session with director lawrence d foldes and star james van patten ,d foldes told the audience that that night they would be in for a treat and that they would be one of very few people to have viewed the original x rated print of the movie.

when originally submitted to the mpaa they insisted on numerous cuts to the rape scene,
supposedly d foldes then enlisted the help of both teachers and clergy to write letters to the ratings boards arguing with them that the act of rape was both ugly and horrifying and as such should be depicted this way in the film.

there was also controversy at the time that actress april dawn (who played tiffany )was underage although the more revealing parts of the scene were achieved using a body double!
in the end the ratings board let it slip by with an r after a few cuts!

in the q&a session after the screening director lawrence d foldes was stated as saying he was working on trying to get a dvd release of the young warriors in the not to distant future!

that was back in 2006,so either lawrence d foldes is a very slow worker or it has been to no avail! [Frown]

i do think it's way about time they released this 80s exploitation classic to dvd !

yeh johnny roarke i reckon they do have a few similarities between them, they both have rape/revenge storylines, they both have an abundance of nudity & violence, they both star linnea quigley, they both feature her naked!
if you can get your hands on a copy johnny give it a go i reckon chances are you'll probably really like it!

i picked up the uk quad poster for the young warriors not long back and it looks really cool,it's basically the same as the us one sheet at the top of the page but much wider in width,i'll take a photo of it and put it on here when i get chance.

i wonder if this will ever get a dvd or blu ray release,i've always found this film to be a total blast!

cool that they aired it uncut, don't think it's ever aired in the uk on terrestrial tv.
