This is a fun movie - it's easy to keep rooting for Paul (Griffin Dunne) to make it home - even though you know it ain't gonna happen [Big Grin]

 -

I love love love all the stuff with Marcy (Rosanna Arquette), because it shows you how crazy women really are. Finally someone put it in a movie. [Razz]

 -

Julie (Teri Garr) is my favorite character though. Again, a great demonstration of the female psyche.

 -

(just kidding girls! or am I?) [Big Grin]

All women are not crazy!!! haha

I love this movie! I've watched it alot, yet every time it's like watching it all over again.
There is just so much going on. So many great characters.

and it all started with "I love that book"

I love all the bits of foreshadowing.....everything makes sense to the next part. Money, skulls, sculptures "That doesn't look that hard" I love that it puts you into the story you really root for Paul and cringe when he does. It's so artfully shot.....I almost don't consider it a typical 80's movie and it isn't even a typical Scorsese movie either.....(I had to IMDB his list of movies)...has anyone seen his film in New York Stories a very similar vibe?

I really do love that it ends where it began.....just a crazy night from beginning to end. [Smile]

and again women are not crazy! you should be so lucky to have us in your life men? haha [Wink]

That laugh was a little too manic! Put the knife down, Muff...

Hey! Not all women are as brilliant as you Muffster! There are some downright crazy loons out there, and as SA says; this movie does capture them pretty well.

Heckfire*, I think I read somewhere that 1 in 8 people has borderline personality disorder (male and female). So I guess we're all just rolling a roulette wheel when it comes to the opposite sex! Thank god The Rewind provides us with the ultimate infallible cool person filter - if someone's on here - they rule!

This is a great little movie. Should be watched back-to-back with 'Into the Night' for a cool double bill.

*Like that?

"I just wanted to leave, you know, my apartment, maybe meet a nice girl, and now I've got to die for it, you know?"

One thing that makes "After Hours" so good is it is one disaster after another. When you think it can't get worse for Paul.. it does. Though the situations are absurd, we've all have had those uncomfortable moments we could not avoid or control.

"Surrender Dorothy"??

This is one I've seen so many times that I'll be fascinated if/when the bluray comes out to view it all in more detail.

I particularly love the early seen with Marcy in the diner - especially since I met a girlfriend in similar circumstances the year before this came out - 25 years ago this year (*sigh*)

I remember a friend telling me that Scorcese didn't know how to end it and it was Michael Powell who suggested bringing it back to the beginning.

i about died when he got inside the berlin night club and they started trying to give him a mow-hawk. the music playing in background made it more enjoyable haha!

loved all the paper mache scenes haha..

my favorite line was "well why don't you just go home then".. by the guy he picks up on the street.

According to some, this a key scene in the movie. He is insecure about his sexuality and runs away every time he gets the chance to get laid... Just thought that was a funny explanation.

That being said, After Hours is a very entertaining and funny little movie with a great athmosphere.

It was time to watch this classic dark comedy again, after all, Cheech and Chong are among the cast [Cool]

I just love the atmosphere and all the characters!
I didn´t remember that Bronson Pinchot had a small part in the film.
And Mr. D. Miller was great once again. Too bad his part was so short,
luckily there was more D. Miller stuff in the deleted scenes.
I also loved the short "making of" documentary.

There were pretty wild ideas about how the movie should end, the womb version especially [Smile]
It was also new to me that this almost was a Tim Burton movie.

C&C with Griffin.
