I don't remember seeing the movie-though I picked it up recently at a thrift store. Seems like it might be aimed at kids. I LOVED the book when I read it way back when-such a great ending.

I watched it when I was a kid and I bought it for my 5 year old. She loves it and yes, it is a kids movie. I still enjoy watching it with her though [Smile]

Watched The Last Unicorn (1982) and liked it very much, surprisingly good stuff.

The story includes many interesting characters and few not so good ones. Loved the Mommy Fortuna´s Midnight Carnival sequence with all those fierce creatures.
The voice cast includes Alan Arkin, Mia Farrow, Christopher Lee, Keenan Wynn and Jeff Bridges among others. They all did a good job.

Animation, done by the studio Topcraft, was very easy on the eyes. Their core members eventually went on to form Studio Ghibli so no wonder it looks cool.
The Jimmy Webb penned soundtrack was also enjoyable. I especially liked songs "The Last Unicorn" and "Man´s Road" performed by british folk-rock band America.

Check it out if you like 80s animated fantasy features.
