"An ex-cop. To escape the violence, he quit the force. The violence followed him."

Just watched Jackals aka American Justice.
It was a good thriller shot on location in Tucson, Arizona.

"While visiting his former partner in an Arizona border town, LA cop Joe Case witnesses a murder.
The killer is white slaver Jake Wheeler-who turns out to be one of local sheriff Mitchell's most trusted deputies.
Nobody believes Case's eyewitness account, not even his ex-partner Dave Buchanon, another of Mitchell's deputies.
Eventually, it dawns on Buchanon that his department is seething with corruption.
He and Case work secretly to put an end to Wheeler's activities, leading inexorably to the film's climactic bloodbath." (Answers)

The movie stars Jameson Parker (tv-show Simon & Simon, Prince of Darkness), Jack Lucarelli,
Gerald McRaney (also Simon & Simon), Wilford Brimley and very pretty Jeanie Wilson (Simon & Simon again).

Gerald McRaney gives a great performance as the crazy, no-nonsense dirty cop.
Good cast, rugged Arizona scenery, cool chase scene and gunfights.

wilford brimley's always been great in what ever he's appeared in and i can remember liking the simon and simon series http://youtu.be/IDhz_mVcVCQ when it aired on uk tv many years back.

jackals is a well made little known thriller that's well worth a watch.
