I hadn't seen a thread on Major League so here it is!
[Smile]
First off, I'm not even a baseball fan. I find the sport incredibly boring to watch and tedious to play. Just not my thing. But I love this movie! Absolutely hilarious and the cast couldn't have been better! I'm glad I actually saw this in the theater when it first came out. Then bought the vhs tape and then the DVD.

I will try hard to forget the VERY inferior sequel though. [Eek!]

Any other fans of this movie? =)

Oh man do I love this movie! I'm a huge baseball fan but you don't need to be to enjoy this one. I watch this movie every year in March in anticipation for the new MLB season to start. I also love catching this on TV because some of the edited lines are hilarious! Many of my friends will use said edited lines during baseball and softball games. Pretty funny. Can't say I know any other movie's edited lines like I do for this movie.

Strike this ....."guyyyyyy"... out!

And I know 2 wasn't great but it had some pretty funny parts in it.

Major League is just a fun movie.. a collection of supposed undesirables that ban together for an incredible season for the Cleveland Indians.

The cast is great.. Wesley Snipes, Charlie Sheen, James Gammon, Tom Berenger, Rene Russo, Corbin Bernsen, and a totally unknown at the time Dennis Haysbert.

I always looked at Major League as an extension of the old Bob Uecker Miller Lite commercials..

One of those movies that is easy to watch for awhile whenever you find in on the dial.

This movie is to Baseball comedies what the 2000 film "The Replacements" is to Football comedies. They're virtually identical films..just different sport. If someone who had never seen this before asked me what it was about. That's pretty much the easiest explanation I could give.

Anyway, I do enjoy this movie alot. And even though I was a baseball player growing up...I agree you don't need to be a fan of the game to like this movie. The All-Star cast should clarify that point enough as is.

*Family Alert*!

ML is definitely not kid friendly. Many, many F-Bombs dropped so be aware if you intend to watch with small ones. =)

This is one of my favorite childhood movies. Two of my friends and I would reenact scenes from the movie during our 6th grade recesses. We pretty much knew the script front to back. I still quote Bob Uecker whenever I can't find something I'm looking for, "Christ I can't find it...to hell with it!". A total classic for me.

I remember being so mad at my parents because they were going to watch this movie and they wouldn't let me because it was rated R. haha. A bunch of my friends had seen it but I hadn't, major bummer.

Also to comment on Bob Uecker. I'm a huge Brewers fan and grew up listening to him on the radio. He was and is the voice of my summers. He was amazing in this movie! Al though he is not quite as "loose" with what he says in real life he always has some great stories and zingers during every game. I believe last year was the 25th anniv of this movie and when the Brewers came to Clevland for a three game series they honored him. They also showed the movie in full on the jumbo tron after one game and had a Rickie Vaugh (I believe it was him) bobble head night! Pretty sweet!

Interesting fact, the baseball scenes were shot in Milwaukee at the old County Stadium, so the Brewers are connected to the movie by this as well.

On a final note, Bob Uecker had his second heart surgery in the last twelve months. They say everything went well again, so let's hope he has a speedy healthy recovery. It will be a sad day when he is not calling Brewer games, he's truely one of the best of all time!
