Hi all,

I've had a good look around here trying to find the name of a film I *think* I remember from when I was a kid. The problem is I can't remember if I'm mixing up more than one film, or if my brain is making some of it up. Useful eh?

Ok, what I seem to remember is a kid for some reason helping to defend something (possibly a castle), I seem to remember some kind of wizard being there, and possibly a big 'monster' being on their side too. There may have been some kind of bubble shield, but the more I think about it the more I think that part is me thinking about Explorers [Wink] .

Sorry for the rubbish description, this is kinda my last chance to see if it exists, or if I'm just losing it.

Need to throw The Hugga Bunch Movie into the mix, just to please certain members on here.....

Being serious though, the other movie that immediately springs to mind is The Never Ending Story...

Is it a similar kind of movie though - I'm wondering if a search on Jim Henson might work, if there's a chance his Muppet Workshop team were involved...

It was live action, very definitely, and no puppets that I remember.

Although I haven't seen it??...it's not Masters of the Universe....that's in the picture thread is it possibly?

I'm really sure it's not Hugga Bunch this time haha [Wink]

I think you are thinking of Dune. 1984. In there a kid, Paul of Atreides, son of Duke Leto learns the weirding ways (fighting), but he activates a shield from his waist to fight. look up that preview on imdb, and the monster on their side could be the giant worms the Fremen ride in the desert!?

I would venture to guess "Wizards of the lost kingdom" too based on the description. An interesting family fantasy flick to say the least. I loved this movie as a kid, but when I watched it again as an adult after hunting down a workable VHS copy....Well, it was bad. I'm usually against movie remakes, but I can honestly say this is the type of movie that would benefit greatly from one. Cause the original just doesn't set well through the test of time.

Dune is one of my all-time favourite films, so I knew it wasn't that one, but thanks anyway [Smile] .

I'm 99% sure it was Wizards, I'll watch it soon and make sure, thanks again people [Smile] .

Wizards is very very cheap and tacky, but it has that stick-in-your-brain quality which affects you when you're young.
