"The story of Gary Gilmore, a convicted murderer who lobbied for his own execution."

This interesting made-for-tv movie starring Tommy Lee Jones, Christine Lahti, Rosanna Arquette, Jenny Wright and Eli Wallach
is going to be released on dvd in Finland june 30th and i´m going to get it asap.

It was direced by Lawrence Schiller and written by Norman Mailer.

Anyone seen this movie?

Never heard of this one, but it looks really interesting. May try to track it down, though I suspect being a TV movie, it's likely hard to find.

Yes, I have seen this, a very well done, though not what I'd call a pick-me-up film. [Smile] This was Tommy Lee Jones's first big role, and he is excellent. It was based on a non-fiction book so it follows the facts of the case fairly well. I believe that although this was a U.S. TV movie, they shot more explicit love scenes with Jones and Arquette for foreign markets. I have not seen that version.

It´s interesting to see which version it will be.
I read somewhere that the R1 dvd was the "no nudity" version.
So if the distributors are lazy it will be the same version.

I´ll report as soon as i get it.

Watched The Executioner's Song yesterday.

Another Tommy Lee Jones movie based on a true story.
It was a sad tale but a good movie.
I liked the first half very much but after the main character goes totally nuts
and is sent to prison it gets really crazy.
Let me just tell you that true life is once again stranger than fiction.

Tommy Lee Jones gives a very strong performance, you never know what he might do next.
Christine Lahti and Rosanna Arquette are great and both look amazing.
It would have been great to see Rosanna in a birthday suit but sadly this was the same "no nudity" version.
Still, a very strong movie even without the skin and extra bad language.

Next: Nate and Hayes.
