I barely remember watching "Student Exchange" on the Wonderful World of Disney back in 1987.  It was definitely a cute movie with elements of "Can't Buy Me Love" in it, but at the time I didn't realize that it would pretty much vanish from existence after watching it.  It is asked about occasionally on here, but who has actually seen it?

 -

Carol and Neil are are successful in terms of grades, but not very popular at their high school. When Carol comes to find out that two foreign exchange students from France and Italy were redirected to another school, she decides that she and Neil might just have an opportunity to become popular as the Italian Adriano and French Simone. But how long can this little scheme go on before someone figures it out?

Something that really makes me want to go back and watch "Student Exchange" again is the excellent cast which included:

Todd Field, Viveka Davis, Heather Graham, Maura Tierney, Lisa Hartman, and Rob Estes.

Muffy was this on your Wonderful World of Disney playlist?

I love Student Exchange. There are a bunch of Disney TV movies from around that time that are brilliant; 'Double Switch'; '14 Going on 30' and some others.

They all look cheap and TV-ish, but they've got some real heart in them, as well as some nice performances.

I'll add to the above that I *wish* Disney would get off their... fannies(?) and release them!

I have seen this and I thought it was mildly amusing as a kid. Well mildly amusing now but I think I thought it was ok when I was a kid, but did not rate it heaps high.

But it has serious flaws. I mean if you could summon the cool factor then you can summon it and use it at school to be popular. If you are cool you are cool if not your not.

I really don't think that dressing pretty badly
IMO and putting on some bogus European accent is gonna change this.

I am sure in real life people would have said to them hey geeks what's with pretending you are European exchange students.

Also they are good looking to start with just made to look like geeks with glasses and bad hair cuts.

I would be alot more impressed if the guys character was played by Corky from Life goes on and the girls character was played by Mindy Cohn,
and then they became cool. Highly unlikely scenario.

I hope I am not being to harsh but come on.

I saw this recently (2-3 years ago) as well on pay TV.

A slighlty cynical review, but yeah ok its an alright movie.
