I'm must admit that in the HD format war I was rooting for Blu-ray because I'm a longtime Sony Playstation owner. So I was quick to jump to the PS3. However, while improving, I've been disappointed in the amount of 80's titles available on Blu-ray and more importantly the price of some of the titles.

So about 2 years ago when it was decided that HD-DVD was done .. I went out and scooped up a quality HD-DVD player for only $49. A few of my friends made fun of me at the time, but it is amazing the deals on HD-DVD movies that I have been able to score off of Amazon in the last couple of years.

Here's a few examples:

Streets of Fire ($1.67)
Fast Times at Ridgemont High ($3.49)
The Breakfast Club ($6.99)
Top Gun (.99)
Fletch ($2.49)
An American Werewolf in London ($3.49)

I originally thought the Blu-ray picture was better than HD-DVD, but over time I've realized that there isn't much difference. But what really makes HD-DVD relevant is the fact that some of the movies are still not available on Blu-ray. Highly recommend HD-DVD for any collectors!
