As Wraith and Thunder Run, this is one of the car/thriller movies. Does anybody remember this? Starred Dean Stockwell, John Shepherd and yellow DeTomaso Pantera + other tuned fast cars with drug smuggling theme.

Saw it on as 12 year old and man, it was full of action.

Tried out to find the score, I rememeber only the song "Hammer Down" from one of the chasing scenes. Should be closing in the trailer, which can be found on a site dedicated to Pantera: http://www.banzairunnerpantera.com/movie.htm.

Any info of the soundtrack or score would be nice or just comments from the movie.

I always loved this movie. It does bug me that the "high speed" chases were done by speeding up the film, which has always been a pet peeve of mine since I was a kid, but it's still a car flick full of cool cars. My favorite was always the silver Chevy pickup with the chopped top.

I bought this on DVD about a year and a half ago from Half.com. It's fullscreen and not much better than VHS quality, but hey, I got it!

Watched Banzai Runner last night and it was a decent low-budget action film.

Dean Stockwell was good and it was nice to see John Shepherd ( Thunder Run) in another movie.
Once again his parents had died, this time he was living with his uncle (Stockwell).
Charles Dierkop had a fun role as wild Traven and it´s always cool to see Billy Drago in action.

Ann Cooper and Dawn Schneider (Free Ride, The Boys Next Door) were the pretty ladies.

During the first hour the movie feels like a cop drama but
after the DEA proposes Stockwell´s character go undercover, the real action begins.

We can see few car races but like 1badgmc said, speeding up the film is just wrong.

The soundtrack includes ok sounding tunes performed by guys like Randy Nicklaus, Burt Teague Jr and Jerry Riopelle.

Banzai Runner was shot in 1986, just like The Wraith and Thunder Run.
I bet the Arizona desert hasn´t seen so many cool and fast cars since those days [Smile]
