amaranth got to watch "Valley Girl" for first time and I can tell it was bit different than expected.. but I'll take the comment that it was 'good' and hope for 'dazzling' as time passes.

Also, it was mentioned that the 80's fashion in "Valley Girl" is almost distracting..

I'm actually a huge fan of the incredible fashion represented in "Valley Girl". Maybe in today's views it doesn't rock out quite like it did back then, but my closet definitely still has a few 80's fav looks that I've never been able to part ways with as of yet..

 -

I mean where better to start with 80's fashion than to begin the movie with a shopping spree at the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance California. [Cool]

 -

Does anyone really think I don't have Brad's awesome jacket on right now as I type this message? [Cool]

 -

Finally, I love the prom look for both Randy and Julie! Now Tommy in his pink tux.. maybe that is what was distracting amaranth? [Wink]

The main reason for this topic is for us to post movie pics and discuss some of our fav fashion from those 80's flicks!

What are some of your favs?

I never been a fashion-oriented kind of person. So I never paid much attention what people were wearing in films. Unless of course it's so hideously ugly that you have to look. Hehe. I remember I kinda wanted Marty's life preserver red jacket in "Back to the Furture" at one time. It just looked cool to me when I was younger....Oh, and I also wanted one of those auto-drying jackets he sported in the future in part 2.=)

I've always enjoyed the 80's fashion in this pic from "Just One of the Guys"! And did Deborah Goodrich have some crazy looks throughout or what?

How much in our 80's movies do you think it was costume designers or the actual actors themselves picking out clothes?

I also loved Lynn's style in Girls Just want to Have Fun

That prom dress reminds me of the Gunne Sax fashions that were popular in the early 80's- a lot of lace and long dresses or skirts. Kind of Little House on the Prairie meets a wedding shop.

Here are some Gunne Sax clothing pictures. I think this must be where they get the clothes for "Big Love".
