Im reading a book about 80s teen movies called PRETTY IN PINK (highly recommended!) and thye mentioned a few movies I havent seen yet. One of them is PLAIN CLOTHES, which apparently isnt on DVD yet.

Has anyone seen it? Is it good? Im thinking of buying a VHS of it

Devolution here,

That my friend is a great movie. Totally underrated. If that's the one with Rick Springsteen, it's good stuff.

Yes, it's a good movie...I owned it on video a long time ago and watched it alot. And I definetly wouldn't hesitate to buy it if it ever was released on DVD.

About time someone other than me showed some love for this forgotten flick. Definetly should be on DVD before something like the Party animal.

I watched this on cable when it was new - several times!

Managed to record it off one of the movie channels a couple years ago when it aired at the super convenient time of 5AM on a Sunday morning.

The part I remembered most was the poetry reading during English class. Definitely a fun flick!

I remember buying 'Pretty in Pink - The Golden Age of Teen Movies' when it came out, loooong before the retro boom and the internet. Back then people still thought you were an idiot if you said you liked 80's movies (except for a few films).
I remember feeling like I must've misspent my youth because I realised I'd seen almost every film he mentioned. I regret nothing.

'Plain Clothes' is a great forgotten movie. It reminds me of 'Hiding Out' a lot. The part where he reads a poem to the class is a classic.

'Pretty in Pink - The Golden Age of Teen Movies' is a great book. I take it out every know and then to remind myself how lucky I was to grow up with such great movies.

I can't believe Plain Clothes was made in 1988, i would have sworn is was made in the 90's.

It was definitely one of those 'late to the party' movies that came along when the whole teen genre was winding down. In fact, I seem to recall there was another 'adult-undercover-at-highschool' movie around the same time, but for some reason my brain is telling me it was a female who went undercover (which might be wrong).

Nope. Neither of them. It's another 80's movie, but I can't remember the title offhand. I'll do some digging.

Found it - 'Under Cover':

IMDB Under Cover

It wasn't a woman (my brain lied). If I remember right it wasn't a very good film (not awful, just mediocre).
