Hi all nice to be back!! As I was walking on the treadmill today at the gym I got to thinking about all of the 80s actors who are still pretty darn popular today and there were two that popped out first. Kevin Bacon and John Cusack. Both of these guys have had extremely long and successful careers with what seems to be no end in sight. I see that John Cusack has just signed on to play a serial killer from Alaska that lured women and then hunted them down in the forest. That looks like one that I would be interested in watching.

Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgewick have made headlines in recent years with a bum agent (or investor) that stole some of their money. Of course Kyra has been really popular the last few years with her hit show The Closer. Also I have to say that a look a like with Ashley Hebert's fiancee JP Rosenbaum from The Bachelorette has left me feeling a little Footloose!

Who are some other actors/actresses that you think of and are astounded by their careers?

OOOhh, one more that popped into my mind is Kelly Preston. She kind of had a down slope in the early to mid 90's but got her mojo going again with Jerry McGuire.

Look deep at your choices, don't go for the obvious choices like TOM CRUISE...................

I would have to include Rob Lowe in there too Jess. Even after that sex videotape scandal in the late 80's, he still has had a fairly successful career. That John Cusack movie you mentioned about the serial killer sounds good! I love Kevin Bacon too. And I remember when Kyra was on Another World, back when I used to watch soap operas in the summer.

How about John Stockwell ?

He was in a whole bunch of pretty cool 80's movies, and in more recent years he has directed Blue Crush, Turistas and Into the Blue.
I think it's fair enough to put him in here as well.

His first role was in 1926, he was in a number of 80s movies (The Fox and The Hound, Erik The Viking, The Care Bears Movie) plus loads of tv shows, and is still working today, with one movie in production three in post-production, and one in pre-production.

So my vote goes to the man who, on Sept. 24, will be 91 years young, and whose IMDB filmography includes 326 titles : Mickey Rooney.

Kev-

I agree about Jason Bateman. He is the comeback kid...and in a very good way. His sister hasn't been in anything in forever. His career is on fire.

Valley--I love your list too! Now that I think about it there sure are several that got their start in the 80's and have just kept climbing right on up the ladder of success.

Jennifer Jason Leigh has had a pretty solid career ever since she first popped up in the
late 1970's and in some of the most beloved 1980's flicks, displaying a wide range of
acting-talent from Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Easy Money to the gritty Last Exit to Brooklyn.
