Geeze 80's is better of course!......haha 80's and 70's.......The Shining still scares the **** out of me!
There have been alot of horror remakes and big budget horror in the last decade......but there was such a great enterprise of horror movies in the 80's cheesy, great, fake, spoofy horror movies in the 80's

Oh man, I love all the slasher flicks of the 70's and 80's. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Carrie, The Fog, etc. Those are some of my favorites!!! I also loved the cheesy-kind-of-horror movies like Dolls, Night of the Comet, Night of the Creeps, Chopping Mall...they're all so good !!!
Someone come over so we can watch these !!!

cindymancini you took a bunch right off the top of my list
A couple years ago I heard the new movie Slither was like a remake of Night Of the Creeps so I had to check it out... Long story short, it sucked so so so bad, I barely finished it
As cliched as it sounds, they really don't make them like they used to, especially the cheesy ones!

I generally like the 80s ones better. I just saw He Knows You're Alone for the first time this past weekend. Little plotline, lots of slash. Good stuff.

80's and some 70's movies were the best horror movies for me.
As all the new horrors that are released these days seem to rip off the old movies one way or the other, anyway!

The 60's and 70's are my favourite decades for horror, followed by the 30's and 80's. I haven't found many great horror films from the 90's or 00's.

OMG, is there even a question?! 80's and 70's MADE the horror genre! Halloween, the Shining, the slashers like Friday the 13th... Whether they were good or campy they are ALL worth repeated viewings! One of my all time faves was Equinox from 1970! That movie was made for $6500, with its bad acting, its camp, its cheese and it still creeps me out!

I love 70's and 80's horror movies....I can't watch new horror, they are totally different. I liked that older movies felt more realistic and they didn't use CGI stuff.

I love "The Gate". The problem with today's horror flicks is all that digital crap they use. It ruins the movies. It's the same for the 3 newest "Star Wars" movies. What a joke.

I like movies that give me goosebumps. I always enjoy a good monster movie, or a "stranger in a strange little town" type movie.
Twilight Zone: The Movie, Lost Boys, Poltergeist, Silver Bullet, Alien, The Thing, The Gate, and even Garfield's Halloween Special, all have a special place in my heart.
TNT aired a creepy '70s movie throughout the '80s and '90s, hosted by Rod Serling, Encounter With The Unknown. It is a series of great American ghost tales and urban folklore which gave me severe shivers and goosebumps when I watched it alone as a kid.

70s/80s of course. I think the biggest appeal was that when I actually first watched these movies (when I was a kid)...they really did scare the crap out of you...which of course was the fun part. I remember the first time I watched Poltergeist....me and a couple of my buddies were going to sleep out in my parents' camper, which was simply sitting out in our driveway. We came inside to watch Poltergeist....needless to say...we didn't sleep in the camper. Also, I really like the memories of watching some of the horror movies as a kid...and Dad making me cover my eyes for some of the brief scenes with nudity....yes of course I was still peeking....funny though, how there didn't seem to be anything wrong with watching heads being chopped off and such....ahhhh...the memories.
