"A comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls to fight the evil types who survive." -- IMDb

Cool movie. Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney were both great in this.

*Goes to load up MAME for a game of Tempest.*

That's why this has always been such a great website. We know about these great little movies like Night of the Coment, fully deserving of a cult following, and we can tell the rest of the world about them. [Smile]

watched great balls of fire (1989) a couple of nights back and also flowers in the attic last night.

 -

great balls of fire is a lot of fun, that's from my own collection, flowers in the attic was a rental, had not seen it since its first release back in 87,enjoyed it.

though this is coming from someone who's never read the novel,i have heard the film adaption is very watered down in comparison!

not long finished watching the 1984 comedy protocol starring goldie hawn and chris sarandon.

it was an enjoyable enough 1 hr 30 minutes, nothing overly hilarious, you won't die laughing from it that's for sure
but there's still enough good laughs in here to keep most people going.
put it this way i was never bored with it and i would say it's actually quite a likeable movie overall.

 -
the stand out scene for me was when goldie takes the sheikh and his entourage to the nightclub, that was pretty amusing.

 -

this is another one i've not viewed since it first came out on home video and i found it a lot more enjoyable than i had recollected.

not bad,probably give it about a 7/10.

I just watched this. The story of Play write Joe Orton and his friend/lover in the 1960's. He was an overtly bisexual struggling writer who spent a lot of his time as the film portrays looking for sex. He was played by Gary Oldman, (Sid & Nancy and later Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises) and his friend/lover was played by Alfred Molian, (Raiders Of The Lost Ark and later Spider-Man 2). It was entertaining and funny with Molin's character being continuously frustrated with Oldman's as he never gave him credit for his work. There was a yin and yang to their characters as Joe didn't seem to take anything seriously and Kenneth, (Molin's character), being almost the exact opposite. This true story had a rather grim ending, (I won't say what as that would spoil it if you haven't seen it or don't know), to life of a write who's life was far too early.
It was a good film, 1hr 45 minutes that didn't drag and lag in any places and overall I would recommend this if you like a good drama.

I give it a 4/5.

if you want something easy going for the night, that's nothing too taxing for the brain, has a few good laughs and features a pretty cool soundtrack (i loved the upbeat music score by thomas newman) then i don't think you can go far wrong with desperately seeking susan!

this was a lot of fun, first time i've watched this in nearly 30 years.

no wonder my memory of it was so vague!

good fun! 7.5/10.

The New Kids---finally! I'd been wanting to see it for years, and Chiller showed it a month or so back. I really liked it.

i watched the 1988 cockroach horror - the nest on blu ray the other night.

pretty cool creepy crawlie horror with an above average cast (for this type of flick) and also featuring some rather icky effects.

especially the scene with robert lansing's eyeball. yuck!

looks superb on blu ray and is a real upgrade for fans from the old fullscreen dvd.

highly recomended 8/10.

"A strange lifeform consumes everything in its path as it grows and grows."

The Blob (1988)

I've always enjoyed this one. One of these days I'll check out the '58 original.

The Blob is one of my faves. FYI, the band Alien is still going strong. Check out the great tune What Goes Up from the Eternity album released in 2014.

Very cool. How many of their albums do you have?

Last night on Youtubeland:

 -

Or....Baker County, U.S.A. (1982)

"A group of college students come across a redneck in the wilderness chasing his wife's lover. The students eventually become the objects of the redneck's crazed vengeance."

This was a lot more enjoyable than I anticipated. Henry Silva is great as a redneck not to mess with!

I've got trapped on DVD,its from a us distributor you've probably heard off at some point called code red.

I own a few of there releases - sole survivor, running hot, trapped, hot moves, sweet sixteen, they've released some good movies in the past.

A lot of there blu ray releases are limited prints such as savage streets, neon maniacs, etc so they tend to retail at quite a high price.

I liked Trapped a lot,i think it's a pretty decent hillbilly flick, henry silva was great in it,sadly the dvd like a lot of there releases is now long out of print and goes for silly money!

I missed out on a couple of there releases that soon went out of print,I wanted to get - light blast starring Erik Estrada and Bret Leonard's 1989 horror - the dead pit.

I love Code Red dvd but like you said they are insanely hard to get especially if you live outside of the US which I do. Diabolik DVD is the only way to get them if your international and they very rarely have stock and when they do the good titles sell out within hours. I managed to get my hands on a new copy of the dead pit a couple months ago I see that it's currently availible on the code red big cartel site right now for $14.99. Ghostkeeper is high on my list of wanted code red titles at the moment. Would love to get my hands on a copy of that. I enjoyed Trapped alot. Reminded me a bit of Bullies which is one of my favorite revenge flicks from the 80's.

Yeah I've used diabolik DVD before tiffany to order sorority house massacre limited edition blu ray and mortuary limited edition blu ray.

There from scorpion releasing, like code red they used to sell all there titles through amazon but now they still sell the majority of there titles on there but the rest such as there limited editions they sell through there own website or specialist sellers such as diabolik.

I've got bullies on DVD,that's a another great hillbilly pic.

Tiffany have you ever seen - the new kids that's a seriously awesome 80s revenge flick.

I'll tell you another one that is a lot more light hearted than the ones we've mentioned,it actually could be classed as family viewing and that is - the zoo gang, that is a lot of fun.

I knew scorpion titles were hard to get ahold of as well. I've only got a few myself. Being fans of all these niche titles it's hard to track them down, especially when you dont live in the US. Alot of the US sites charge an arm and a leg on shipping that it isn't even worth it to place an order. Warrior I have the new kids it's awesome. I'm a sucker for revenge fliks. Not familiar with the zoo gang but definitely going to check that out now.

Diner (1982)

"A group of college-age buddies struggle with their imminent passage into adulthood in 1959 Baltimore."

"Diner", is a wonderful comedy/drama. You really believe these guys are lifelong friends!

Red Dawn was on last night on Esquire channel. I stayed up way too late watching it. All of those stars were so young, and their acting skills weren't quite top notch yet. But The Swayze was a good lead.

Blow Out (1981)

"A movie sound recordist accidentally records the evidence that proves that a car accident was actually murder and consequently finds himself in danger."

 -

A brilliant 80s thriller. John Travolta, who I normally can't stand, gives a great performance throughout.

 -

John Lithgow, is the killer that likes to do things his own way!

 - -

The performance of, Nancy Allen, seems to polarise people. I actually think she did a fine job; very innocent and child-like. Dennis Franz, is also very good.

The picture and audio quality are, for the most part, excellent. It's certainly worth picking this up on Blu-ray.

Blind Date (1987)

"Walter Davis is a workaholic. His attention is all to his work and very little to his personal life or appearance. Now he needs a date to take to his company's business dinner with a new important Japanese client. His brother sets him up with his wife's cousin Nadia, who is new in town and wants to socialize, but he was warned that if she gets drunk, she loses control and becomes wild. How will the date turn out - especially when they encounter Nadia's ex-boyfriend David?"

Silly, lightweight 80s comedy -- that's still a lot of fun.
