I know this is primarily a movie site, but the 80's (and even the 90's for that matter) actually HAD some of the greatest SITCOM'S - and lot's of em!
(remember those??!)

Anyway ..
Easier said than done, but i think i would have to list my TOP 3 AS:

• CHEERS

Sam Malone is a such a CLASSIC character

• NIGHT COURT

John Larouquette brought a whole new meaning
to being a dirtbag!

• FAMILY TIES

.. Michael J. Fox RULED the mid 80's!

(The 90's sitcom's might have actually been the best crop of all time, but that's for a different day, i guess)

Enjoy!

I recently introduced my girlfriend to Full House and she loves it. I bought S1-3 on DVD and I'm waiting on S4 to be shipped over.

Hard to believe Steph (Jodie Sweetin) would go on to be a (now recovered) drug addict.

Married With Children in the top for me. Growing Pains, Night Court and Family Ties are all right up there too.

Asking for the best 80s sitcom is like asking which of the Facts of Life girls was the skinniest. Nevertheless, I'll try:

Night Court
Cheers
WKRP (but best eps were in 70s)
Married with Children (mostly a 90s show)

Verdict: 80s had best movies but very mediocre sitcoms. My favorite TV is from the 60s. The whackiness that is 80s movies was also 60s TV - Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, Mister Ed, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Gilligan's Island, Batman, Get Smart, Addams Family, Munsters, Patty Duke, Dobie Gillis, Star Trek, ect.
