I wish this were more readily available out there. I loved it a lot when I was young, and it still holds up quite well today. Perhaps the fact it came out just before Snuffleupagus became real has something to do with it. But anyway, the songs work well, the puppetry is superb, and the jokes don't age. Oscar in particular steals the show, with his crazy off road driving and fondness for the Don't Drop Inn's "tossed salad." You also got to love the great damage inflicted on Gordon's car between Cookie Monster's unquenchable hunger and Super Grover's bad flying. Great family entertainment. Who else would like to see it in stores more?

This is a childhood favorite of mine. I loved it so much that I wrote a page for it for the website...I actually wrote that page in 2003 and I'm still waiting for it to go up (Hint, hint, mods).

I liked the cameos (Sandra Bernhard's and Chevy Chase's in particular), I enjoyed the songs ("Easy Goin' Day" especially) and I thought that the movie and TV references and spoofs were funny (especially the "North By Northwest" spoof and the verbal homage to "THX 1138").

On top of that, you can also see clips from the classic 80s exercise program "20 Minute Workout" when Big Bird walks in on the Dodos doing their morning exercises.

I really wish that a widescreen version of this movie would come out.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

I forgot...The best part is at the end when Cookie Monster has eaten a good part of Gordon's Volkswagen.
