I watched it for the first time last night.

I was kind of hanging in there at the beginning...thinking it wasn't too bad...but then when the computer started actually talking and had that weird smilie face...that's when the whole movie lost me completely.

It was very pieced together. The story line is actually a pretty scary one, if it was done a little bit different it kind of reminded me of Single White Female..with a computer...

cause when the computer starts saying it wants to touch the girl, and it says things like "you lied to me"...and gets all freaked out...that was weird.

There were a couple bizarre sequences in this movie, that made me think they were turning the songs being played right in to a music video in the middle of the movie...like right after Moles/Miles goes to sleep after telling Edgar what dreams are...it goes in to this strange sequence...and I wasn't sure if the computer was dreaming...and if so...about what?

It sounded like Culture Club doing the music. Some of the songs were ok, but it was like the whole way up to the end Madeline acts like she likes Miles only because of the beautiful music she thinks he has written, and then when he asks her at the end why she likes him...she gives him every reason but that one.

I was never sure why they threw Maxwell Caulfield in there...he had like 0 lines.

I thought it was very mismashed together.

I thought Virginia Madsen looked really good...her hair was darker...she reminded me of Greta Schachi who was in the movie Presumed Innocent with Harrison Ford.
It never seemed she got totally moved in to her apartment.

There were scenes that didn't flow together either...like one scene where they are sneeking out of the apartment....it seemed like he was taking her somewhere and had a purpose, he carried her out on his back...and then it's like the next day all of a sudden and you never know where they ever went.

Does anyone remember anything else the main lead guy actor was in?? He looked like Ray Romano in certain places...and also like the guy who played the Dad in The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. I am going to look him up on IMDB.

Firstly...It appeared to have a lot of influence on 90s movies, huh? [Big Grin] [Wink] [Razz]

Secondly, the lead actor's name is Lenny Von Dohlen.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Thirdly, the music was basically Phil Oakey from Human League, and helen Terry, who did a lot of backing vocal work for, amongst others, Culture Club (who also contributed a few songs). Also there were Heaven 17, UB40, Jeff Lynne, and Phil Collns, and of course loads of stuff by Giorgio Moroder.

Also, stuff like the 'sneaking out of the apartment' scene - it didn't matter where they were going, the key takeaway from the scene was that they needed to sneak out.

Aaarrgh..... it's not a movie that needs analysing. It's fantasy, and fantasy rarely stands up to logic.

For what it's worth, I really like this movie.

Oh, and Lenny Von Dohlen's filmography can be found HERE

Yeah I looked Lenny up...and I never saw all of Home Alone 3-cause it bored me to death, but he's in that...and I think I recognized him from some of it....weird that he and Haviland Morris would be in a not so great 90's movie together. I never understood why they made another sequel and called it Home Alone...the only thing it had incommon with the 1st 2 is the kid was home alone...it was different families, different everything.

Virginia Madsen really hasn't changed that much. She was in a couple movies that I remember I saw her in and didn't like...and I didn't think she was cute then either...Candyman was one of them...but in Fire with Fire and this movie...I thought she was actually pretty.

I understand that it was a fantasy movie...all though I actually thought that was aweome that he hooked his entire house up to the computer and the computer could do everything...that was actually very futuristic. But, it was unbelievable that regular champagne would cause all that to happen. I like even stuff that seems like it can't be real, to seem actually possible, which could have happened with this movie...if they would have just changed it in a few places. Like I said...it was too chopped up in places. The scene where he was taking her out of the house...it started out with the feel that he might be going to tell her what was going on...and that he had somewhere he was taking her...that's why when it just ended...it felt like they did some cruddy editing in that scene.
