Do you think boys like movies more than girls, or girls like movies more than boys...or it is equal?

Last night I had 2 teenage boys here for supper, 1 was 13...and he was so excited to tell me he just saw The Goonies for the first time...and thought it was so good, and he was saying about "Sloth"...and how funny it was, and it was cool to see a kid excited about a movie that I liked as a kid.

The other boy is 17...he's my neighbor...he came over the other night and asked me if I had the 1st Alien movie...cause he had seen a part of a sequel to it...and was wanting to see the original.

A few years ago...my cousin who was 14 at the time and his friend who was 16...they went nuts over my movies...and stayed up all night watching Slumber Party Massacre, and The Lost Boys....they actually had a copy of RAD....and wanted me to see it with them, but we ran out of time...and I haven't seen RAD in like forever...but I remember my own brother was nuts over that movie. I am still trying to get a copy of it.

But...I think alot of movies appeal to teenage boys...than any other age group of people...they like Action...Horror, Sci- Fi, dramas/thrillers...and they love Comedies like Stripes, Meatballs, and Porky's.

The only category of movies that girls corner the market on more than boys are Romance movies.

I think I have the movie taste of a guy, because more often than not a romance movie doesn't appeal to me much if at all. I like a lot of horror/action stuff, mostly on the supernatural side but there are some exceptions. I don't know, maybe I'll make some guy happy that I won't make him watch How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, or make him sick that we'll watch Evil Dead or Sleepy Hollow ten million times over.

There are exceptions on Girls that like Action movies or any other genre that it's not a Romantic Comedy.

I like Romatic Comedies but I also like movies like Gladiator, Holloween, The Last Starfighter, Gremlins, etc. I guess it will depends on my mood, the actors on a film, how they did their publicity and got me wanting to go and see a movie.

Oh...I like all types of movies...except Sci-Fi- I have never been in to watching futuristic type movies...or magical/ mystical stuff...like The Princess Bride or Willow, ot Lord of the Rings...I have no interest in those kind of movies.

I think I like more stereotypic guy movies...like Die Hard and First Blood and The Terminator.

I think though for teenagers ...girls are more in to gabbing on the phone and doing their hair, and going clothing shopping, and boys get in to movies more than girls...it just seems that way to me.

I think the original question of who likes going to movies the most, boys or girls, is too broad and aims at offering sterotypes. I think in the end it all falls down to individuality and I know that if I want to go and see certain movies at the cinema that my daughter will be far more inclined to go than most other people I know...recent movie outings have included Saw, Creep, The Descent, Batman Begins, War of The Worlds and Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The reason my daughter wanted to go with me to see these movies was generally because her friends (both male and female) didn't want to see them.

Noms [Cool]
