Someone emailed me with some lyrics to a song he doesn't know the name of. He thinks it MAY be Jimmy Somerville/Bronski Beat.

It goes something like this in the beginning, "When I'm down on the floor, I don't know what to do..I think of you", and then he said thru-out the song, it goes "I'll fight for you".

I can't think of the name of the song - but he said it's running thru his head non-stop!

Are you sure it isn't "I'll Melt With You" by Modern English. Sounds like it. [Confused]

Fighting for You-Pirates of the Mississippi

"Fighting For You"

I don't know, If I can recover,
How can we be friends, if we cant be lovers,
It's killing me, thinking of you with him

Call it Pride, call it stubborn,
But I won't give up, til i know theres no other way,
To start all over again.

Cause there's just so much one man can take,
Even the strongest heart can break
When the tears start to roll
It's like like trying to hold back the Sea.

But I won't give up, you know how I am
I'll fight til I fall, and make one more stand
How can I loose
Fighting for You

Cause there's just so much one man can take
Even the strongest hears can break
When the tears start to roll
It's like trying to hold back the sea

But I wont give up, you know how I am
I'll fight til I fall, and make one more stand
How can I loose,
Fighting for you

Tell me how can I loose,
Fighting for you

Foreigner - I'll Fight For You

I'm turning to you, when love is on my mind
You're all I want, woman, and love's so hard to find
I know that I hurt you, and I know that I was wrong
But I want you back, back where you belong

And I won't give you up, no I won't walk away
I hope and I pray, I hope and I pray
You'll forgive me someday

I'll fight for you, I'll give you all I got to give
I'll fight for you, as long as we both should live
I'll search for heaven each day
And together, we'll find a way
And I'll fight for you darlin'
I'll fight for you baby, cause I've waited too long for love

You're all of my life, and every time I look at you
I keep tellin' myself, you're the one thing I just can't lose
Our love runs so deeply, can't you feel it in your heart
'Cause girl we've got something, that no one can tear apart

I'm tellin' you now, this love, it just can't be wrong
Oh, it can't be wrong
And I won't give you up 'cause I've waited too long
Oh, I've waited too long for love

I'll fight for you, I'll give you all I got to give
I'll fight for you, as long as we should live
I'll search for heaven each day
And together, we'll find a way
And I'll fight for you darlin'
I'll fight for you...

If he thinks it still might be Jimmy Somerville, do a search for lyrics.

No, it's not the song by Foreigner. It's defintely a "new-wave" song - since it's on a tape of songs he recorded off of a radio station here in the San Francisco area (now defunct) which played nothing but 80's new-wave music. He's going to play the song for me over the phone on monday and I'll try and figure it out from there!

They have just launched a service here in the UK whereby if you are listening to a track and don't know what it is, you can call a number from your cellphone, hold the phone to your radio speaker, and the service provider will text you back with the artist and track name. Heard about it on TV last night. If you have a MP3 of the track, mail it to me and I'll try it out.

I heard about that service too, but that was on april 1st, so I thought it was a joke. [Confused]
I find it hard to believe that such a thing would actually work, especially for older songs.

Yes Smayt, it WAS on Top Gear (the coolest car show on TV) and apparently it does work, as I've since heard it from other sources. Let me try it out myself to see if it works. I'll let you all know.

I just listened to the song, and it IS defintely Jimmy Somerville (who can mistake that voice!), and he sings "I'd fight for you" thru-out the song, and it sort of has that Yaz type of sound thru out it - does that help any?
