So I was watching one of my favorites the other night........Pretty in Pink!

I was cracking up because of Duckie's entrance shot in the movie......."bum bum...bum bum....the shot starts on his infamous shoes and slowly moves up to revel the Duckster.

Can you guys think of any others......where maybe it was extremely noticeable they were introducing a main character to the story line.....???

I'm gonna think of some more and get back to you... [Big Grin]

Streets Of Fire. Packed theater, music blasting, suddenly the rear doors open, and there in the bright light is Willem Dafoe as Raven......

You just KNOW he's one bad mother.......

Dark Helmet's intro in Spaceballs is a personal favorite, how he marches authoritatively into the control room like he's a god, adn then yanks up the visor to reveal he's the galaxy's biggest ultranerd, that had me cracking up repeatedly when I first saw it.

Mok in Rock & Rule : when you first get to see him properly he teleports into the room in a flash of light & theatrics, with the camera panning up from his feet

Hey everyone!! I'm new here. I really like this sight its nice to find people who enjoy movies and like to talk about them. But back on topic. I can think of a few:

Thunderlips from RockyIII- Paullie- "Why are they carrying him?" Mickey - "He's Walking"

Shoot carrying the log up the bleachers from Vision Quest.

It not 80's but Jonathan E's entrance at the start of Rollerball still gives me goose bumps.

It didn't have any special lighting or explosions, but who knew what they were getting when Gizmo popped out of the box in Gremlins?

Ooh! How about Beetlejuice flying out of his coffin? Great stuff there, although the title of the movie pretty much gave away that he was a main character in the first place.

How about entrances or revealings that were a major let-down? Like, it wasn't intentionally funny, or something to that extent?

Like Max in The Lost Boys. When he's finally revealed as the big bad vampire . . . eyebrows? I was laughing at him.

By the way, welcome to the forum, Doogster! I hope you enjoy it here!

David Bowie in Labyrinth...

It's cooool when the white owl bursts into Sarah's room and transforms into Jareth the Goblin King.

He's standin' there, like, twirlin' his magic balls around in his hands.

Phenomenal character entrance.

I've tried to do that, but it's near impossible.

Everyone is so creative i'm loving this....... [Big Grin]

The Geek........so great, definatly a favorite of mine! The bus! haaaaaaaa!

Or revealings good one Lupa......that made me think of ET. The begining you only see ET in shadows and pieces of him like fingers....then you get the whole reveal....Elioit with the flashlight in ET's face and the horrible "screeching like a cat sound" eckkkk ahhhh.......as the flashlight reveals ET! always scared me a bit as a kid.

I totally thought of Labyrinth yesterday, as I tried to convince myself I really need the $50 DVD of Labryinth, while my friend reminded me of the many "disgusting" (his word not mine)...Bowie crotch shots in Labryinth.

But I was gonna write about Hoggle's introduction.......as a kid that was hillarouis to me........hehe he's peeing...(covers little Muffy's eyes)

Another favorite character of mine.....Booger!

"Dawson,Dudley?"
"Call me Booger"
"Alright"
"uh excuse please, Why do they call you Booger?"
"I don't know" [Big Grin]

What about the "reveal" at the end of Sleepaway Camp? When we find out Angela has some extra equipment.

I just thought of another one. [Smile]

Possessed!Sheryl in Evil Dead. She just starts naming cards and spins around, and they do that weird closeup, and it's like, "WHOA! Back up!" A lot of the possessed people in those movies get the same entrance, although some aren't so surprising as others.

Frankenstein's monster in Transylvania 6-5000 (Wow, that's the first time I've typed out "Transylvania" right the first time around!). I mean, it's not like it's surprising when he busts through the church door, but the guy just hanging there and giving that monotonous scream was funny. [Smile] And they were like, "RUN! IT'S FRANKENSTEIN!" like that was a normal thing to come upon in the woods of Transylvania.

I was watching 'Weird Science' last night, and I have to say that the introduction of Lisa was one hell of a reveal when I was a young boy (it still is now too!) [Wink]

From the input of the computer program, to the masses of electrical destruction, to a door that explodes.... she then gracefully walks into the bedroom and says "so, what would you little maniacs like to do first?" Absolute classic!

I thought of a few more

Tom Cruise/ Vincent in the Color of Money "on the snap Vincent"

Micheal Parre(sp) The diner scene in Streets of Fire or when he first meets Raven "Tom Cody please to meet you"

Or how about the Japanese drag racing brothers in Better off Dead I love his Howard Cossel!!!

I know its a cheesey but Stallones entrance in Cobra was cool.

Just thought of how I notice this in movies I watch over and over....So I started Heathers just now.....
Scene: Christan Slater is sitting in the back of lunchroom all in black at the last table in the corner....."God Veronica drool much?.....his name is Jason Dean he's in my American history" As Veronica walks toward him all you see is her back and JD watches her....you know he's going to be an important part of the story.....great character introduction!
