20 years of watching the movie, and just now noticing...

Right before the big match with Johnny, Pat Johnson ties some kind of red "thing" to the back of Daniel's belt. Anyone notice or know what that is/signifies?

Yes, its used for the marking system. Everytime Daniel scores a point the judges know to raise a Red Flag to show that point...
