Knight Rider was huge back in the day! Everyone here watched the show and i remember that we made KITT driving wheels in school [Smile]
I own the first season dvd set and really need to revisit this one. I think that the series got downhill during the last two seasons...

BTW, new finnish talk show hosted by David Hasselhoff just started here couple of days ago.

I still vividly remember the episode where KITT got "killed" in a pool of toxic waste.
They rebuilt the car though, but in the following episodes i was always suspicious
KITT wouldn't be quite the same ! [Big Grin]

But what about the black guy that they injected into later seasons in an attempt to boost ratings?

Same as noted above...I loved this as a kid, but it didn`t age well...don`t think I`ll ever be able to sit through an entire episode. Still an iconic memory for me though...I can picture scooping the action figure and car if I ever see it for a reasonable price...I`ll find a spot in my 80`s room to display it...

This is one of thos shows that amazes me that it lasted as long as it did. Young kids must've comprised most of the viewing audience--or the Nielson rating system screwed up.

I lived in South Africa when I was a little kid and my mum said that Knight Rider was a big deal at the time over there. So much so that people would invite other people around their house to watch it.

I was obsessed with the show as a kid but I have to agree that it is absolutely terrible to watch now. Many shows from the 70's and 80's fall under the same category of terrible though.

Shows that are equally as bad include:

Charlie's Angels
Starsky and Hutch
Magnum P.I.
The A-Team
T.J. Hooker

The list goes on

Good luck aTomik...maybe with a few drinks of spiced rum and some decent snacks...you`ll get through an episode!! [Smile]

And good list Bernie....I`ve bought seasons of many shows trying to re-capture the glory...it just ain`t there for many....I have that great memory of the entire family gathering around to watch The Dukes Of Hazzard, and you couldn`t convince anyone it wasn`t the best show ever made...it`s right up there with Knight Rider. I even tried to watch some Six Million Dollar Man....still....nothing. A few off hand that are still watchable....All In The Family, MASH, Cheers, first few seasons of Who`s the Boss, Taxi....

I still think that Taxi was quite funny but got really bad towards the end. It just got to the point where they realised that they couldn't do anything more. I found the episodes that revolved around Latka super annoying too.

Danny De Vito is by far the best one in the show. He has a knack for playing scumbag roles.

These shows were all good back then but I think they were good because nothing had been done like that before. Now, it's done to death and we are used to it.

I bought and watched the first two Taxi seasons sometime late last year. I didn´t watch the show back in the day but i really liked most of the episodes now.

I usually hate sitcoms but i wanted to see more Marilu Henner so i got the sets [Wink]
Lots of nicely built characters in the show, especially Danny De Vito was awesome.

I know that some of the scenes were edited (same with every Taxi release i believe?) but that´s not a major problem because i don´t know what i missed.
I saw Christopher Lloyd sniffing paint during (one of the episodes) end credits but that scene was not in the actual episode.

They released only these first two seasons here which i think is not acceptable but i can live with that.

One more thing: I love Magnum, P.I.

Taxi is great. I liked it back when it was on in the 70-80s but i love it now. Own every season and one season is authentically autographed by Marilu.
Hey Bernie, I like the latka episodes when he had the two personalities but didnt like the ones that included his girlfriend.
Atomik. What episode was that with the paint sniffing? thats funny.

A question for yall. How many shows followed Taxi that had an actor/actress from it. I dont mean shows like its always sunny in philly. I mean in the 80s. I can think of Dear John with Judd Hirsch and Whos the Boss.

I like Taxi, but, unlike just about everyone else, I found Barney Miller to be way overrated. It's just me, I guess.

It's interesting how some TV shows are timeless no matter when they were made, and others are products of their era and haven't aged well. Two cases in point. All in the Family is a watershed American TV show, and like everyone else at the time, I watched every episode when the show was first run. It was excellent and deserved all the acclaim that it got. I tried to watch a couple of episodes a few years ago, and it was tough. There was just so much yelling and shrill self-importance. Northern Exposure from the 90s was also a turn-off when I saw it years later. What was once quirky, quaint, and endearing came off as just a load of telewriting cutesy nonsense with everyone in the cast overacting.

I have to agree with you, Bernie. As for your other bummer shows:
Charlie's Angels--only a guilty pleasure, but at least it was a show that knew that it was only about sexploitation. Probably best watched with the sound down, just for the pretty young women.

Starsky and Hutch--dullsville. This one amazes me too. It's just such a nondescript thing of buddy cops and screeching tires. It's very tiresome.

Magnum P.I.--probably the best show of your bunch, but only because Hawaii is beautiful and Selleck is Selleck, a thoroughly likeable TV star.

The A-Team--I run so hot and cold with Stephen J. Cannell's stuff. This is considered one of his better franchises, and I suppose that if you consider it as a comic book, or perhaps a live-action cartoon, it's OK. George Peppard was great, a fine light action hero, but I've never liked the show or watched it.

T.J. Hooker--This is almost like a Mad TV parody of a cop show from that era. See William Shatner! See Heather Lock-lear! (Announcers always seemed to separate the syllables in her name.) See Adrian Zmed! It's so formulaic and cookie cutter. I know that I've actually seen a few episodes, but I'll be darned if I can remember anything about them.

Terd: The Latka epsiode where he is Vic Ferrari is fine but any of the others are really annoying. It is even more annoying having to listen to his bogus made up language and ridiculous cultural rituals.

I think Andy Kaufman was an interesting person in a strange way but not really funny. People were just waiting for him to say "Thank you very much" and that got old real quick.

Crash: I liked those shows at one point but somehow revisiting them makes me want to hurl. It is hard to imagine all the hype of these shows when they were first run on T.V.

I used to have every episode of Magnum, The A-Team along with many other series (back when I was a kid) but my brother liked to smash things so I never bothered with collecting/nostalgia after that point. Perhaps I could start again now.

These show are so bad now I really can't watch them . It's a shame because I was once a massive fan of almost all of them.

I still enjoy listening to the Magnum and Knight Rider theme music [Smile]
