Worzel Gummidge is a British children's fictional character who originally appeared in a series of books by the novelist Barbara Euphan Todd.[1] A walking, talking scarecrow, Gummidge has a set of interchangeable turnip, mangel worzel and swede heads, each of which suit a particular occasion or endow him with a specific skill.

The books were adapted for radio and television a number of times, most successfully with former Doctor Who actor Jon Pertwee taking the lead role in 1979 on ITV; originally produced in the UK, but later in New Zealand

Crazy, Wacky and Hilarious, Worzel Gummidge was a great part of my television viewing youth.

Hated this show but somehow ended up watching most of the episodes... well, what else are you gonna do on a Sunday after The Waltons and before The Cosby Show?

Aunt Sally was a sadist. But evil Una Stubbs beats goody two shoes Connie Booth any day of the week!

Wow the Walton's. It was so dry it almost went on fire. I remember Richard Thomas who played John-Boy Walton being in a two part film of Stephen King's IT that was shown on Sky One years ago.

I don't think that I have seen this. I would like to collect both the series as well as all the novels.
