Here in Pittsburgh, for some odd reason, every time we are going to get a big snowstorm, everyone has to stock up on milk, bread and toilet paper. When I used to work at the mall, I'd stop on my way home at our little grocery store. It was already snowing one evening, on my way home, and I desperately needed milk and bread. This store was very small. I go to the bread aisle, and there were only two loaves of bread left, both which were squished. I go to the milk aisle to buy a gallon of skim milk. There was no skim milk left, and no gallon jugs of milk either. I settled for 1/2 gallon of 2%. I can't understand why people around here get into a panic and think they're never getting out of their house again!

So true. Myself, I do not do that but we don't get the huge snowfalls like the northeast. I guess if we were gonna get over a foot of snow maybe I would hit the food store. btw, youre the first person who agrees with me that skim milk rocks.

How much snow are they predicting for you guys Pittsburghgirl

Honestly, I have heard anywhere from 1 inch to 10 or 12 inches. They just don't know yet. I hope it's not another Snowmageddon like 2010. But from what I have heard, anywhere in the Baltimore and Washington DC areas are going to get hit the worst. I did stock up on snacks! Totino's pizza rolls, tortilla chips and popcorn. If I'm going to be stuck here, I might as well have snacks while I watch Netflix

The term "Storm Chips" has become so popular around here in Nova Scotia that they actually started making bigger bags of potato chips and putting "Storm Chips" on the bag!

Recently got a diagnosis of high blood sugar, so since October have changed my eating entirely...eliminated Pepsi from my life and have been eating great since then....down 10 pounds (10 more to go to reach my goal of 200...I'm 6 ft tall so can handle 200)...my long way of saying...STORM SPINACH FOR ME!!!

Crash, I'm also stocked up with vodka, wine and beer 😋
Kevdug, have you ever tried the seaweed chips? I have never had them, but I've heard they are tasty, and a good low carb treat. I'm going back to reduced or low carbs next week. It's easy to put on the weight now, and tougher to get the weight off!

We've gotten 4 inches of snow so far. I just now heard the plow truck go down our street, for the first time tonight. I know they're very busy.

No I haven't Pitts...may look into this. We were originally getting hit with the storm coming from DC and expecting...wait for it....60 cm of snow!!! We just got 30 cm of snow last weekend, so didn't need it...but they've minimized it since then. Whatever we get is coming tomorrow (Sunday)...so we'll see....

Pitt - I love the over reactions in southern OH as well. Same thing happens here with bread and milk. So funny. We escaped the madness and just got a half inch here, but not too far to the south they got a lot more. Would have loved being in NY for this storm. Crazy out there.

Our friends in Morgantown West Virginia sent us a pic. They got 20" last I heard. Is that close to where you are Pittsburghgirl?

Its supposed to get in the 50s here in Missouri this week so maybe some better weather headed your way.

People in PA tend to over-react when it comes to snow. It isn't as if we live in a climate known for snow, right? Every snow storm (or pending) brings the same results which is chaos in the supermarket for goods that one should normally have in their homes. Why does it take a snow storm for people to stock up on what they should already have available?
