I can't believe this story and how big it has gotten. I can't believe that it was ever allowed to happen. I haven't followed it at all, because the pieces of it that I have seen, are just a mess. Nobody needs a Masters Degree to know this woman has mental problems.

It's pretty obvious to anyone that the woman has mental issues that need sorting out, from the desperate need for children (to the point where she's driven her parents to bankruptcy) to the obvious plastic surgery she's had to make herself look like Angeline Jolie.

It doesn't take any "diagnosing" to know that she has problems, even Blind Freddy could tell that.

In the latest news, Vivid Video have offered her a million dollars to act in a porn video, where they want her to have sex with 8 men. I very much doubt she will do it, because she's apparantly been celibate since before her first child was born.

I saw that somewhere too, about the porn movie.

She really does look like Angelia Jolie now-I never realized when I saw her that she deliberately did all that to her self...maybe she thought Aneglia Jolie would adopt her babies too...don't you wonder what Angelia thinks when she takes a look at her- Angelia isn't much different. That's what's weird.

I was getting a haircut yesterday, and was waiting for my son to get one, I was reading a tabloid magazine that was on the coffee table- and it said that Angelia has been collecting Daggers since she was a little kid, and now she takes her 7 year old out to collect them too.

What on Earth would make an adult person think a kid should have a gigantic knife for a collectible? That's mental. So, these celebrites, aren't any better off than the Octo Mom.

Yeah....I am making a "diagnosis" that the Octo Mom is a nut job.

There should be laws about people having children that can not afford them. I have to pay an arm and a leg for health insurance for my family, and my husband goes out to work 6 days a week, to pay taxes, so that other people can sit around on their butt , having babies they can't afford, while they get their bills paid for...that's not right.

The bills for those Octuplets are over 1 -1/2 million dollars, and she's on welfare. How on Earth can 1 single monther take care of 8 octuplets...when she had 6 other children before this. Why would any medical facility inject her through invetro fertilization, when the woman doesn't have a job, she doesn't have a husband, she has no one to help her. Why aren't they held responsible for the medical bill?

I am not talking just about her either...I think if you can't afford children- then you have no business having one...they are a luxury not a neccessity. If people have 2 children and they don't have jobs, and pay their bills, then they should have to go get their tubes tied and a vasectomy-in order to stay eligable for welfare.

Our population has double in the last 2 decades, to where there are 6 billion people on this planet, and we do not have enough natural resources to shelter, feed and care for that amount of people- that is what is wrong with the world, and what will eventually be the total end of our planet...and nobody seems to care about it.

People really need to start worrying about our population problem, and having children is probably one of the worst things you can do to the environment right now...so people have to really think about that, and I think it is a really self centered thing to just keep making babies. I have 1 child, because that's what I knew I could afford and what I could take care of. I think people need to think about why they have children to begin with.

I can see both points. I actually agree with Isis on something as far as being able to afford children. Working retail, it's unbelievable how many 5 and 6 person families I see come in and load their carts up, pay with an EBT card (our taxes hard at work), and drive off in a Lexus SUV or some other sports car. I actually had to ban one lady from the store because every month when she was getting her total card balance she would come in and argue me down (she even threatened me which was amusing) about why she should be able to purchase lobster. I told her the card was for certain things while part of me was soooooo wanting to say stop having kids, get a job, support yourself, and then you can actually be a benefit to society by purchasing the lobster. I still feel sorry for the kids though because they can't help it. They are pretty much helpless victims of the situation......

I know that about the kids...I know people that can't have children...and would desperately adopt kids...but the nutty parents won't give them up- not out of love for them- which is the sad horrible truth- but for the greed of it.

The Foster Care system is a mess too. It is horrible what happens to little kids. I know 2 little girls that were adopted by some friends of ours, and their lives were horrible...it was like they were tossed around like animals...and they are human beings. I just hope they were young enough, that they will never know anything other than what they know about the parents they have now.

Kash- I tried to send you a PM, but your mail box is full.

The lady that does my mom's hair is a foster parent. The most heartbreaking story I've ever heard was what the real mother of a little 2 year old girl did to get the child to quit crying: she poured hot coffee down her throat. The real mother ended up getting her back from my mom's hairdresser which goes to show you what a mess the "system" is. I don't think it can even be called a system maybe just a worthless run around of crap or something......

We have two families of adopted kids at my school. One family has two girls and a boy, and the two girls are actually sisters. The little boy is in pre-k for his second year...he was so abused when he was little that he didn't even cry when he got hurt. Also, he can't straighten his arms completely out w/o help b/c of all the broken bones he had and stuff. He has SO many developmental issues, too. It really is heartbreaking.

I think some people just need to be neutered like dogs, honest to goodness. They don't take care of the kids they have but they keep popping them out like it's nothing. There are good foster families out there but there are some ****ty ones too. Some people do it because they really love kids and some do it for the money.

And I am in total agreement that it's not the kids' fault. They're innocent in the whole mess.

My partner was a foster child during the 80's. He was put with 14 different families, and was abused multiple times. I always thought that the foster system would have more stringent screening in place to eliminate families who could end up harming the child.

I used to buy candy bars and pop and doritos with my food stamps, it was funny to watch the looks and listen to the comments that the cashiers would say to me.

I am sure that they thought it was funny, when they are stuck working for minimum wage, so their money can go to buy someone else pop and doritos. That's hysterical.

I was in Wal-Mart not long ago, and a cashier there told me, that a guy came through the check out with steak and lobster, which he was buying with his food stamps, and he said to her...don't you wish you could eat like I do.

I thought what a jerk.

That's not right.

There's so much screwed up in the world.

What are food stamps? Are they given out to the unemployed so they don't have to spend their dole money on food? It sounds like a good idea.

In theory I agree with you 100%. But it's still a drastic action. Mainly because their financial situation can always change and eventually someday they might be able to afford another kid. There are some people; good honest hard-working people who fall into hard times due to some unfortunate situations who will more than likely eventually recover from that hardship. so to take away their ability to have any future kids isn't right at all.

I said if they already have 2 children...nobody needs more than 2 kids.

I am not saying that even if your poor-you can't have kids...I am saying it's not right to have children, and EXPECT that welfare will pay your bills, so you can sit at home and make babies, while other people work their butts off to pay for you to make babies.

First of all...people need to be in commited stable relationships...before adding children to that equasion...that's one of the reasons that there are so many single mothers. And those mothers...they think that by having a baby with a guy- that will ensure that the guy will stick around- and it doesn't happen that way. So, it is a never ending cycle, and will continue to happen for all time...but I personally am sick of it- because I know how hard my husband works, and I know how hard I work on my business and nobody handed it to me, I created it myself and have built it up to being extremely successful...so I am getting to the point of being sick of excuses from people as to why they can't ever get a break, and why their lives are a mess, and poor pitiful me....I see this situation with the Octo-Mom as just being the same situation alot of people are in...mulitpied by 8 (and then some)...but it's everywhere.

I see people that work 2 and 3 jobs and never complain about it, because they are working for a better life for themselves and their families, those are the people I'd be more than happy to help out...but when our government doesn't give you a choice as to who your even helping, that's not right either.

Sorry but I'm living proof that a string of bad breaks can happen to a hard working person. Yes I'm getting assistance from both the state of North Dakota and from Burleigh County. I wish I wasn't in the situation that I'm currently in but I have to take whatever I can receive right now in order to have a roof over my head and food on the table. I don't buy chips with my food stamps and I don't buy pop. I did buy one steak but not an expensive cut just a top sirloin. There's currently a lot of people just like me who are also a hard working person who are currently out of work because of the situation our economy is in

Well said, Sammy. As I've said before, I see nothing wrong with people getting government assistance--people like you who are just a little down on their luck at the moment. Those are the people who deserve it the most, IMHO. Hope everything works out for you. [Smile]

I wasn't talking about people like you...I said I am extremely happy to help people out that need it...there are healthy people out there that can work, and don't do it, because they are lazy and they have been getting welfare their whole life, and they think that it is a way of life, and if nobody ever stops that, and kicks them in the butt to go get a job, then why would they want to.

My husband has said before, and I agree with this- that if you are on welfare and are perfectly healthy- then you should be out there picking up garbage off the roads, cleaning up the parks, doing odd jobs for people. If your receiving money ...then you should earn that money in someway. There are so many things that need done in the world, and people won't get off their butts to do them, that's what is wrong.

If someone has a serious injury-that's a totally different story.

I am talking about people getting WIC and assistance, and they are healthy people. If they couldn't afford a baby- then they shouldn't have made one. It's real easy to get birth control.

this, in particularly, does bother me. not about being healthy, but every woman i know, (no joke) that has had children within the last 10 years, get approved for WIC when they shouldn't, and they know it. they lie by stating that they do not know the whereabouts of the father...bogus.
they urged me to do the same thing when i had my daughter, i said no way. i didn't need assistance. leave it for someone else who needs it.
now, i make too much money to get approved for it, so it doesn't matter.
but i believe that if you are not able to care for yourself comfortably, then why bring innocent children into this world?

as for octo mom. i feel bad for those babies.
people donate money to her, and i think she just bought a house, right?

Granted it's easy to get. But it's not 100% effective either. Some people who can't afford a child try and do the right thing by using birth control yet they still get pregnant. Possibly due to their beliefs abortion isn't an option and maybe they don't want to give up for adoption after carrying the baby for nine months. So what then?

Then they need to go work 2 jobs, and they need to be responsible adults- wether they made a mistake or what... they don't ask other people to foot their bill because their condom broke or whatever...that's not anyone's elses responsibility.

I have 1 child, because that's what I can afford.

There are isolated cases that I would feel sympathetic too, like rape and incest and even someone who was thinking they were going to get 1 baby- and they got triplets-that's something you don't know is going to happen...or someone who's baby has a birth defect-those are reasons for having a welfare system...not the reasons that the people that are abusing it are on it for. You don't just automatically get money because you have children.

You should have to move in with your family then, and everyone in the family could work and support each other- the Amish do it- they don't ask for welfare...they have 5 billion kids- they take care of each other...they don't expect everyone to foot their bills- which is the part about our culture that is truly embarrassing- that I think people have no sense of dignity any more when comes to asking for hand outs.

I am giving out over $3,000 in prizes to my Community for our Egg Hunt- I want to do that...because I know the economy is horrible right now, I know what this is going to mean for the kids and the adults in my community...and nobody asked me to do it, I want to do it...but I did see last year that people can become greedy and I am not letting that happen this time- I am having a 5 Egg Maximum ...so that everyone can get something, I am having 4 Easter Bunnies and a Goose and a Chicken -be handing out all kinds of free toys, candy and stickers to kids...so everyone gets something...because I want to be Fair....and I think that's what's screwed up, is that people don't know how to be Fair...they are greedy and self absorbed, and I hate that kind of stuff....so I feel like you never change anything, by not doing anything...you have to set examples...so other people who have no clue what to do- because they weren't raised to act that way- then they see it...and I believe that kindness and generosity are learned behavior and that it is a contagious behavior.

The Amish are also a lot more self sufficient and considered an extremely religious sect (Christians)who live in their own communities so there's no comparison between them and the average person considering the average person doesn't use a horse and buggy as a primary means of transportation. That's the equivalent of saying, "If people were more religious, this wouldn't happen."

Right now it's really hard to find one job much less two. I agree people should not abuse the system, but some need it. I read in our local paper that over 100 people applied for posistion at a new McDonalds that just opened. These people had college degrees! People are losing their jobs left and right and are looking for any work possible. It's tough right now and I hope it will get better.
