I keep my tv on all day for some background noise, while I'm working or at dinnertime when I'm cooking. But lately I keep having to go back in the living room and change the channel because if I hear one more thing about Britney Spears or Brad and Angelina, I'm gonna scream! They even talk about it on our local news, it is so disgusting. I have always thought that Britney had absolutely no talent and wasn't even that great looking. But now I have to hear again about her releasing some new song, which when they play it on tv, it sounds like she's singing something about a banana, or I'm a banana. You can't even understand what she is "singing". I just wonder who her "real" vocalists are on the albums.
And Brad and Angelina- there is another wackadoo couple. She has been married like 3 times, and he cheats on his first wife to be with her. They are such a good example for today's kids, aren't they? Just because they keep adopting all of those kids, doesn't make them good people. I am sure they have two nannies to each child, and they have probably never had a sleepless night. They are both over-rated actors too. And in the looks dept.?- Brad gets about a 5 out of 10 from me. He has really bad skin, they just cover it up with lotsa makeup when he is on tv interviews.
Does anyone else wanna chime in on who you think is overrated or overexposed?

I already said that about Angelina Jolie-but someone told me she's such a wonderful person. But, she openly talks about her drug issues, and how she self mutilated herself...I always wonder about people like that...and how when they should be in some deep counseling for their own personal issues, how they can possibly be a good role model to others.

Miley Cyrus is so over rated to me, she's a horrible role model....she was asked about her boyfriend ...whos' 20 years old,on Ellen, and she giggled and put her feet up over the chair-and acted like she was 12....but they have been making her to look like she was 30 years old...for the past 3 or more years...look at the nude pictures they were taking of her...nobody ever says anything about it. She's up on stage with a body that hasn't even gone through puberty yet...I looked at her on the Rockefeller special...and she was dressed like a
bum...she had on a black t-shirt-it was messy. I thought they could have put her in a really cute Christmas outfit-that was age appropriate- by looking at her-you'd never know it was a Christmas special....she dressed in something that you'd wear to the grocery store. Some role model- she doesn't even sing good either...I heard some weird song she did about being a fly on the wall-it was kind of creepy....she did it on Dancing with the Stars-I thought if I had a young girl-I would never want to hear her singing a song like that.

It's like Hugh Heffner...all that stuff going on right now, with Holly Madison dating Chris Angel...and now Kendra is getting married to some football player...and Hugh Heffner is going to give her away at the wedding. Being his girlfriend is a job....they have to do all kinds of publicity events for him, and be on his arm- it is all an image- that people buy in to...and he gets to have sex with them on top of everything else...that is called prostitution- and they openly talk about it...but that word isn't said...but that's exactly what they are doing, but nobody seems to care. Now, he's got 2 twins that are barely 18 years old...that are possibly going to be a girlfriend. Isn't it weird that you interview a person to be your girlfriend.

My friend called me last night, because her son had to do a school assignment to cast people to play characters to be in a movie they were doing, and they were to pick people from today's world-and explain why they chose them. They
didn't know ANYBODY that was an actor today...and I was totally stumped too...they
had to cast a Reverand- 2 of them, and they
had to cast a "nice girl"...and I thought of the age groups of people out there...there is like nobody out there.

I get sick of standing in line at the check out...and seeing the same people on the cover of the magazines....Victoria Beckham-is such a snot...I don't see the appeal over her. I can't stand to see The Kardashians, or Paris Hilton, or Nicole Richie-those are totally talentless people.

The people I like are the food and decorating celebrities...because they seem fun...but some of them are start to getting annoying too, because their heads get to big. They lose something about themselves that made them popular to begin with.

Here's what I am talking about:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcIACh8RnWg

That does not look or sound like Christmas in the least bit- look at how the people are dressed.

Pittsburghgirl - say what you like about Brad Pitt.. but 5 out of 10! Sacrilige!!!!!!

Isis, I mostly agree with you, but I think Angelina is a good role model. She had all those problems in the past and has overcome them. I'm sure she's had plenty of counselling for her problems and even might still be. If her experiences can help a young teenage boy or girl, then that's fantastic.

I like Victoria Beckam, although I do wish she'd stop putting on the "posh" act all the time. If you see her in interviews, like the one on Ellen last year, or group interviews with the Spice Girls, she's very witty and funny, and quite self deprecating. There are a few clips on YouTube of her singing live in a club, she's actually quite good, it suprised me, and I'm a fan!

Have you watched the Spice Girl's movie, "Spiceworld"? She's the best actor out of all the girls, of course it's a low standard to begin with... but she really played up the "Posh" image.

How can someone label somebody else talentless simply from seeing their pics in a magazine? Is it jealousy over them being famous or something? I don't see how Heff's deal can be called prostitution. Why does everything have to be about materialism? Maybe some folks consider Christmas to be more important than what one wears on a tv special........

What??

I did see Spiceworld, and I kind of liked it.

How come other people say they don't like someone for whatever reason that they don't like them for...just like Pittsburgh Girl started this thread....and nobody is jumping on her for not liking Brad and Angelina.

Stitch you actually are right about when people do change and can help people from their own personal problems....but I don't see those 2 changing-they just seem to get more and more weirder. Brad Pitt never seemed as weird before, as what he seems like now.

What do you call paying for sex...if it isn't prostitution? Isn't that what Heidi Fleiss went to jail for?

There's nothing about that Christmas special that Miley did...that made it even feel like Christmas. I do consider Christmas important to put people in a good mood....that song made me want to gag...it didn't make me all happy about Christmas. I am just sick of seeing everyone in all black, as if every day is a funeral.

I was folding laundry just a little while ago, and my mom had Entertainment Tonight on, and Britney Spears new video called "Circus" was on. It was horrible. She had a couple pasties over her chest...and I don't get this whole deal with every singer out there who feels themselves up on TV in front of everyone...what is that all about? Miley Cyrus does it too....I really would want to see my little kid recreating those moves. It is nasty stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/user/BritneyTV?ob=1

The song was stupid. I remember when Janet Jackson did a similiar video with "Escapade"- but it wasn't so nasty...now she's become nasty and disgusting too with the way she acts. It's like nobody has any dignity any more.

Pittsburgh-girl, I emphathize with your sentiments exzctly. I am so sick of this miniscule celebrity pool that gets rammed down our throats on a daily basis. Britney turned 27, so already we had to put up with her for 10-11 years now! Seems like an eternity. Enough. Her voice is so weak, the producers have to put layer after layer of her so called voice to get it to sound as chipmunk as possible. She can't sing, she can't act, she can't dance, she certainly has no wisdom to offer. Her looks ain't all that either. I don't know, I just don't get it, does the industry have to have this flagship diva no matter what? What's with this bimbo culture? Can't you make an intelligent artistic statement if you are a woman anymore? Why do we have to put up with the same people year after year?

Britney does stink at singing...where are women like : Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Donna Summer, Crystal Gayle, Tina Turner, and Ann Wilson?

I have the song "If I Can't have you" by Yvonne Elliman-in my jukebox...she was an awesome singer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGHLkevz9Nc&feature=related

She sounds awesome.

You don't see singers like that any more.

I definitely agree with that Spears clip. Wow is that awful "music." At least back in the day, she tried to sing. That was complete and utter garbage coming out of her mouth. People actually buy that? Poor souls.

Aww c'mon Riptide, Crossroads was better than most people give it credit for!
And I really like Britney's new Circus album, it has a really cool electro-pop sound that I enjoy. And she's not trying to mimic Lady Gaga and Katy Perry like Christina Scraguilera is with her latest stuff.

I remembered back in the day when Heff attempted to settle down by marrying former playmate Kim Foster whom he had a child with I believe. Felt kind of empty it didn't work out and he went back to his "lifestyle." But wearing a bathrobe your whole life is nothing to sneeze at. LOL.

Tell me about it. Something happened towards the end of the '90s where there was this concerted effort by the corporate entertainment complex to curtail strong intelligent women in the media and replace them with ready-made bimboette sexpots. I guess a music scene populated with likes of Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Anni DeFranco et al. just wasn't profitable enough since they don't attract a wide enough segment of teenage males with slutty stripper dance routines, frequent "accidental" wardrobe malfunctions, provocative outfits, or daily drug-fueled meltdowns...not to mention that they weren't very cooperative about living their whole lives for the camera, creating tabloid drama and counting the number of People magazine covers, Maxim spreads and TMZ features they get as the epitome of their careers. God, and they even had the gall to write songs with deep, thought-provoking lyrics that made allusions to classic literature and art instead of just stringing together a bunch of shallow pop culture references - what kind of message was that for young girls? That they should read? Strive to grow a brain? Or care about things in the world besides shallow materialism and indulging the sexual fantasies of 15-year-old boys? Heaven forbid. [Roll Eyes]

I used to love to watch the Hollywood Gossip shows on E and stuff like ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and even TMZ ....my daughter is lord and master of the remote so those days are gone..SOMETIMES she "lets" me watch THE SOUP or TMZ. But I don't even really FEEL like watching TMZ anymore cuz the "celebrities" they cover are such b.s.! The Kardashians? The people from LAGUNA BEACH or THE HILLS? Shauna I Was Once Married To Someone Sorta Famous Sand???? I mean, WHO CARES!!!!

Y'know sometimes they give you a little tidbit about Lindsay Lohan and your like "okay, I at least KNOW who that is. I have seen about 4 o 5 of her movies", but some of these "reality stars" have done absolutely nothing to garner them a 'celebrity'. The worst are these two jackasses named Heidi and Spencer (I almost hate putting their names in print and acknowledging them) who are from some "reality show" and they totally go about staging everything they do from having a picnic in the park to walking their dogs. It's sickening! These people dont have movies or albums...why would anyone care that they got engaged, looked at houses, etc????

Actually...anyone who DOESNT liek those fake celebrities SHOULD watch THE SOUP...they amke fun of them.

I love the Soup! I don't watch any of those gossip programs anymore on E or Entertainment tonight. It is all the same crap every day, just on a different channel. I look forward to watching Joel McHale rip on all of those celebutards each week. I also like Chelsea Handler's show too. She is hysterical.

That's exactly how I feel about everything...what have they done to deserve anything? Last night I was watching some special about the women of Country Music, and I thought about how Shania Twain came from total poverty..she started playing music when she was a young girl, her first band-she was 16. She worked in a resort for awhile, her parents were both killed in a car wreck when she was 21, and she had to finish raising her brothers and sister. Faith Hill was the same way-she was adopted when she was 3 days old-but she didn't go around complaining about why her biological parents didn't want her ....she left to go to Nashville on her own, she worked at Radio Shack and then was an assistant for Reba McEntire, she was about starving to death when she first moved there. When I saw her perform on the Rockefeller Center Christmas Special, she was dressed really classy and looked beautiful . I also watched them talk about the Dixie Chicks...the 2 sisters- they play the fiddle and banjo and are awesome musicans-that is talent.

You know the whole SHANIA TWAIN thing made me think of OZZY OSBOURNE, who is my favorite rock star of all time. A lot of people say "Oh, how can you like that washed-up drug addict?" or whatever...but if you ever read up on OZZY he is also one of those people who grew up in terrible poverty and worked terrible jobs and started a band and worked hard and made himself a rags to riches story. Now THATS admirable! He came for absolutely nothing and has been working for decades soif he has a star on the Walk Of Fame and huge castle-like houses I say 'Good For Him!'He WORKED for his money!

Did Ozzy ever suffer a stroke? I find he was a lot more understandable in the early 90's/No more tears era in interviews. He can still sing spot on, but his speaking voice seems incoherent. Still a great performer though.

Yeah lest not forget the Dixie Chicks making millions off being controversial after spekaing out against the war thing. What about that Goodbye Earl song? Doesn't it justify violence against men just like somebody was complaining about in that Carrie Underwood song?? Isn't that making society more violent? What about the kids who listen to it?
