I didn't get it. I think I let the buzz inflate my expectations and it totally missed the mark for me. Maybe I was cranky and not in the mood? It was kinda boring and I didn't get drawn into the story at all.

What did you think?

IMDB Summary:
A ballet dancer wins the lead in "Swan Lake" and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan, but slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like the evil twin sister of the White Swan, the Black Swan.

i loved it. it was suspenseful, and kept my attention. [Smile] loved the story, the choreography and the performances.

SA, you just might have to be in the right mood to see this one...you thought it was boring? i felt it was exhausting to watch. i felt drunk after seeing it.

Yeah, I don't mean to crap on it, but something just turned me off and I lost interest quickly. Probably wasn't in the mood for it. It happens.

I'm glad you liked it and got so much enjoyment out of it though, Ronnie. Thanks for sharing [Smile]

I plan on watching this flick in the near future.. I'll let you know what I think.

On a side note.. did anyone see Jim Carrey as "The Black Swan" on SNL?

One of my good friends wants me to go see it with her. Stupid question but what in it is so disturbing that everybody talks about that's seen it?

Ronnie, the more I think about this movie and the more accolades it gets, the more I can't stand it. It's quickly becoming a problem. I need to get a life [Frown]

I like "Black Swan," but for reasons different than the average mainstream moviegoer, I think. Most folks in the theatre I was in were sitting in stunned silence because U.S. movie-going audiences are so attuned to big-studio, dumb action films, comedies, or rom-coms that follow formulas. This threw them for a loop because here was an American film that was so different, an art film playing in multiplexes. I was chuckling to myself the whole way through it, playing a little game enjoying all the homages to other great directors: Hey, look at that--Roman Polanski's "Repulsion." Body transmographification like David Cronenberg. Wow! Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman! Can you say, "David Lynch's 'Mulholland Dr.'?" There's a tip o' the hat to Brian DePalma... And, of course, it's an overall homage to Michael Powell's "The Red Shoes." I think that everybody except Natalie Portman (working her butt off in the performance) was laughing hysterically and enjoying themselves immensely doing this thing. Darren Aronofsky's a great director because you know that you are going to be getting top notch stuff from him, albeit depressing top-notch stuff. [Smile]
