So, I watched Be Kind Rewind last night. Funny? Yes... But It could've been much better IMO.
I was really looking forward to this movie when I first heard about it. Jack Black recreating Ghostbusters, Robocop and other great 80's movies with guerrila filmmaking? I was expecting to laugh more than when I first saw Crispin Glover do the funky chicken in Friday the 13th part 4! But unfortunately, the movie leaned more toward the "community spirit" and the "lets save the old mom-and-pop movie store" side of the fence... A much unfunnier side of said fence.
The cruddy thing is that this was such a unique idea for a movie (hollywood's creativity is pee-poor nowadays), it could've been a classic! And now it'll be remembered as just mediocre. I think they should've just let J.B. run wild with the movie parodies and jam as many as they could into the flick. That would've been gold. As it stands, it's just "meh".
Any thoughts?

It was actually not an original idea! It was based/ripped off on/from a sketch from THE AMANDA SHOW!

I thought it was only ok, lot of wasted potential!

OhmyGod JAYLEE, try going to the BE KIND REWIND IMDB board and telling them that - they soooo refuse to believe that the people behind this movie saw that AMANDA SHOW "BlockBlister" skit!!! Hahaha.

I try to stay away from the discussion forums on IMDB, the sheer amount of retarded people there is down right frightening! I have never in my life been exposed to so many mind numbingly stupid people... it is quite shocking actually!
