These were big at my school in the early 80's, still have the book they were housed in, but sadly no smell left. Probably because they were in the basement for so long. Was this big at anyone's school back then?

i used to collect them at school. i jusdt remember there were some that weren't so good smelling, but were supposed to be.
it was a really big deal when the teachers would put a scratch/sniff sticker on your graded homework paper...i was just a kid in the 80s.

I collected them too, me and my best friend, lived far away from each other (40 minutes was an eternity when you were 12), so we use to trade stickers in the mail, and gum...and when we would go visit each other...we would go to the mall and buy stickers and go to the movies, it was fun.

They were a cool part of the 80's, along with friendship pins, and different patterned shoelaces....and banana clips.

I have my scratch and sniff stickers...but they all smell like dust now.

My favorite ones were Garfield ones that smelled like Lasanga...they must have had oregano in them, cause I loved that smell, and wished I could eat my stickers....

the stinkiest ones were gasoline, and motor oil, and grass, and a skunk...those ones could give ya a severe headache if you scratched and sniffed too much... [Eek!] [Roll Eyes] [Wink]

OOOH....I took some pictures of my sticker book to share with you all....

Now Valley, don't try scratching and sniffing the computer screen...I already tried that, and it doesn't work.... [Razz] [Wink] [Big Grin] [Roll Eyes]

Grape and Strawberry are good smells....

Popcorn, Fried Chicken and Dill Pickle are Bad smells, even though I happen to love all those things in the real world...

They even made peanutbutter smurf scratch and sniff stickers...now tell me again that the 80's were the coolest!!!! [Big Grin]

I must have loved the Caramel apple one...I scratched the ---- out of it.

Pizza was a good one....

Roller skates and Trees were not so great...

I am not sure what that green guy is who is running and saying "way to go"...he could be a Booger...so stay clear of scratching and sniffing him. [Wink] [Eek!] [Confused]

aren't they the coolest though??

Hey ISIS, what is that one with the roller skate? I hope it wasn't smelly skate scented, hah, hah! I didn't really collect the stickers, but some club in school (I think the Key Club or one of those silly clubs) used to sell scented markers in red or purple and they smelled great! I don't remember the exact scents, but I think the purple was grape.

I think the rollerskate was probably leather.

I loved trading stickers. I have a bunch of E.T ones.

They had sticker stores in the malls. We bought them everywhere. I loved getting mail back then, just to see what stickers my friend had sent me, and we always stuck them all over the outside of the envelopes too.

Eightieschick-I remember those pens too...I had them too. All that stuff made me hungry, even my lip gloss in the 80's tasted so good. I had this giant lip gloss, it was strawberry, and it was huge, and I loved it. I still use Dr. Pepper chapstick.

Oh this is so funny! It was definitely a fad at my school, during the grade school years. It would be fun it you would get the highest grade on a test or something because then you would get one from the teacher and add it to your collection. I remember that the stickers never really smelled like they were supposed to but that didn't stop the craze!

Yowza, Isis's page looked exactly like my book. The roller skate, the peanut, the popcorn, the tree sticker, I had them all. Yes, and it was awesome when we got one on a test, the smallest things back then made us happy. They still make them?

I never see them Riptide, but I haven't really looked...I don't think they would have the same effect as they did...not for me, and I don't even think for kids either...kids don't get excited over little things like that any more.

I loved writing letters and getting letters in the mail...the internet has changed all that, plus the price of stamps is going up again. It makes it almost like nobody is ever going to send things to each other in the mail any more.

I remember the skunk one, everybody I knew back then used to get a real kick about smelling that stinker. As for still making Scratch and Sniff stickers, I can kind of see that it wouldn't fly as much today. I could see some manufacturers making ones with real gross out smells or something, or worse, a marijuana smell. Nope not a good idea.

Yeah, I remember these - primarily from the early '80's.

I remember the "skunk" scratch n' sniff sticker as well. Can't remember I there were any other ones with truly disgusting smells - that was probably the worst.
