Pretty good TV show, toy line & comic; not as popular as 'He-Man', 'GI Joe' or 'Transformers' but Cap built a respectable fan base back in 87.

In the future, our world will be saved by people who didn't quite make the auditions for 'Starlight Express'.

Set during the metal wars, Captain Power and partisans lead the human resistance on an Earth enslaved by Lord Dread and the machines. The show was quite revolutionary for its time; with strong stories and good SFX. Expense (apparently they were shelling out $1 million per episode) and alleged uneven thematic elements (too dumb for adults, too violent for children) led to its cancellation in 1988.

Always wanted one of these...

Fight on the side of Captain Power...or just click at empty space and watch as nothing happens.

...But the word was that they simply didn't work and it was this innovative, but shoddy, bit of kit that led to Cap having to punch out early.

Captain Power & The Soliders Of The Future was a good concept, entertaining TV show and a better comic. They may've had to bring down the axe because interactive technology wasn't quite there in 1987 and the gimmick proved tiresome. But if they bought this back today, I think it would find an audience.
