I never watched but a few pieces of an episode maybe once, tonight I watched the pilot episode. I bought the first season for my son, and we are just now watching them...I loved it, it was so cool. I still can't get over the effects and the intelligence that went in to these TV shows, because they are cooler and better than anything that even comes to the movies now. TV used to be so cool. I missed so many shows in the 80's, when they were actually on. See, I always thought those were boy shows as a teenager, but now I really am in to all those shows because of the storylines, and I realized the men in them are definately worth checking out. Richard Dean Anderson is a cutie!!

I must admit, it is the type of show you can find yourself easily hooked on, as I have been over the last 3 years or so. I always stand the firmest behind heroes who choose not to carry guns and use mental power to defeat their foes, and Mac ranks rather high on such a list of favorites. Even if he seems to have an illogically high number of high school and college sweethearts. One of the few bad things about the Cold War ending was that it took some of the punch out of the series toward the end of the run.

P.S.: You have to wonder if Murdoc's last name is Myers, given that fact that, like Michael, even an H-bomb shoved down his throat won't be able to kill him for good.

This was the show that made me want to be creative with household appliances and knick knacks, much to my mother's chagrin. I just never invented enough good inventions to handle homework! [Wink]

My favorite 80's show of all time. I've mentioned this show before, but got no feedback. I idolized MacGyver as a kid and wanted to be just like him. I was fascinated by what he could invent to get out of sticky situations....never missed an episode. He also is an avid hockey fan, on the show and also in real life, liked that too. I have seen every episode dozens of times and I have the box set as well(including the 2 made for tv movies). I am currently watching season 5, again.

Don't forget his sidekick, Pete Thornton:

And of course....The Phoenix Foundation:

My husband loves this show too, 80'rocked. He used to watch it on the Spike channel too, in the morning before work, but I don't think it is on anymore. MacGyver's sidekick had macular degeneration (in real life), I believe, which is what caused his blindness.

Yeah Pitt, Dana Elcar started to develop glaucoma in 1991 while MacGyver was airing season 6. He stayed on the show and the disease was written into his character, Thornton, as well. This continued to be the case throughout the whole 7th season, which was the final season. Elcar passed away in 2005 of pneumonia at age 77. He certainly had a tough final 14 years of his life.
