The Dixie Square Mall, which Jake and Elwood completely tore apart in their attempts to escape the law ("You got us into this parking lot pal, now you get us out!") is finally being demolished after almost a quarter century of disnitegration. It had closed the year before the film was shot and remained shut afterwards, eventually becoming an eyesore for hte town of Harvey. Demolition should take a couple of weeks, experts say. A new shopping center is expected to take its place.
