Wasn't sure where to post this, but I've owned the laserdisc of "Urgh! A Music War" since the 80's and finally decided to watch it again this weekend for the first time in years.  If you've never seen this incredible mixture of concert footage .. I highly recommend it.

The film showcases everything from Punk, New Wave, Reggae, and Techno bands from Europe and the US recorded live in several locations in 1980. It is a time capsule of some of the most influential 80's musical acts ever assembled in one film.

Here's a quick list of the some of artists:

The Police - Roxanne
Devo - Uncontrollable Urge
Oingo Boingo - Ain't This the Life
The Go-Gos - We Got the Beat
UB40 - Madame Medusa
Joan Jett - Bad Reputation
Echo & the Bunnymen - The Puppet
OMD - Enola Gay
The Dead Kennedys - Bleed For Me
XTC - Respectable Street
The Cramps - Tear It Up
X - Beyond and Back
Wall of Voodoo - Back in Flesh

Go find it!

Where are the real 80's music buffs on here.. I think this would totally appeal to you. The only drawback is that the quality of the laserdisc is not the best picture or sound..

i look back on this movie fondly because it represented one of those childhood moments i'll never forget the first time i watched this.

i remember watching this on cable back in '81 or '82 when i was 11 or 12. i started watching this from the beginning because i always liked music and this looked interesting. i was totally lost with this movie though, kinda like i felt when i first watched "heavy metal" around the same time. i had no idea what was going on. the music was so foreign and crazy to me. this was my first introduction to punk and post punk bands. klaus nomi freaked me out big time. i could never forget his name. who knew three years later i would look back at this moment as my first intro into punk, goth, and alternative music.

i would love to see this again since i only saw it a few times back in the early 80's. even now i didn't realize how great the lineup is. i need to own this on dvd. i had started looking for this back in the mid/late 90's but could never find one. i'll have to look again.

This is a terrific concert film. Great remembrance of it, xchazx (Klaus Nomi still freaks me out too!) You must've seen it at about the same time I did. I have fond memories of the beloved Night Flight on the USA Network running it a couple of times back then.

This is one of these movies like "Ladies and Gentlemen: The Fabulous Stains" that is ready-made for the Rewind to promote and increase the size of the cult. [Smile]
