Aw gosh. I always just loved Jani Lane!! Voice-wise, I liked Sebastian Bach, Tom Keifer, Phil Lewis, and Geoff Tate. I also liked Danger Danger and Dangerous Toys lead singers voices. Anybody remember their names?

Dangerous Toys lead screamer was Jason McMaster.

I've always liked

Jamie St. James--Black N Blue/Warrant
Jani Lane--Warrant
****y Pearl--Love/Hate & Ratt
Bret Michaels--Poison

along with many that you mentioned but the best by far in my opinion would be

Geoff Tate--Queensryche

oh and the guy from Firehouse whatever his name is

OK I found it, Firehouse's lead singer is CJ Snare

How could I have forgotten Neil and Tramp?

Reason I omitted D1ck1nson was because I never considered Maiden to be a hair metal band.

I was always impressed by Mark Slaughters voice. I remember hearing something about him regarding how many octaves that guy can hit and it was WAY out of a normal males range.

I prefer Slaughter in the Vinnie Vincent Invasion

The singer in Steelheart could really hit the high notes too.

the lead singer from DANGER DANGER was Ted Poley, but I think they replaced him.

My favorite singers (not necessarily hair band) are

Ozzy
Ronnie James Dio
Rob Halford
Bruce ****inson
Freddy Mercury
and even though Im not a QUEESNSRYCHE fan I have to give Geoff Tate his due.

Hair Band:

Don Dokken
Jon Bon Jovi
Sebastian Bach

You're talking about Big Hairbands only???

Going by this definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glam_metal

For best vocals I would choose:

Mike Reno - Loverboy
Joey Tempest - Europe
Joe Elliot - Def Leppard
Kip Winger (Winger)
David Coverdale - Whitesnake
Sebastian Bach - Skid Row
Kelly Keagy - Night Ranger
Paul Stanely - Kiss
Jon Bon Jovi - Bon Jovi
Tom Keifer (Cinderella)
Bret Michaels (Poison)
Stephen Pearcy (RATT)
Vince Neil - Motley Crue
Dee Snider - Twisted Sister

Wow. You just listed everybody I would have.

But I should say, if the criteria is favorite not necessarily by vocal prowess but rather overall showmanship/vocal flare, etc. then I'd probably have to go with Axl Rose. He wasn't the greatest singer technically speaking, but he had the stage presence and personality. Or if you count Van Halen as hair metal, then also David Lee Roth. Again nothing nothing to write home about on a technical level, but just exciting as hell to watch do his thing and rock star personality galore.

not hair metal or even metal for that matter but I've always liked both

Roger Daltrey

I would have to say Sebastian Bach. I saw him live last summer and was most impressed with his range. Isn't he classically trained?

I never really liked Vince Neil's voice. He's even with Stephen Pearcy (Ratt) for me. It's high and pitchy. IMHO... I really like motley Crew though... No flame wars now... [Wink]
