My favorite is Jermaine Stewart, "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off".

Remember that one?!

What's your fav?

Have always been into music-could never pick one. Had a hard time keeping it at 7!

Flock of Seagulls: “I Ran (So Far Away)”
Soft Cell: “Tainted Love”
Modern English: “I Melt With You”
Quarterflash: “Harden My Heart”
Scandal: "Goodbye To You"
The Jeff Healy Band: “Angel Eyes”
Vixen: “Edge Of A Broken Heart”

I've been meaning to ask; are your two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year?

Great choices, by the way. Those are all great songs.

take my breath away - berlin
glory of love - peter cetara

lets hear it for the boy - deniece williams

Big Country released two pretty good albums with "steeltown" and "the crossing". "the seer" isn't a bad album either. i'm surprised they didn't do better in the u.s.

Hmm... the problem with questions like this is many artists had different hits in different countries. So 'Soft Cell' for instance, had one big US hit but many in the UK. So, Just to be contrary (my part-time forum role) I'm gonna shine a light on alternatives that were hits - possibly in other countries, or possibly in the same country.

My picks may not qualify-Quarterflash had another hit in "Find Another Fool" (liked that too) and Scandal had "Love's Got A Line On You"
Now there's a place I go
With a boy I know
We're together, gettin' better
All the time
And there are words I say
When we hide away
Makes him crazy, makes him love me
All the time

Good times-may have that one on 45. They had a hit in "The Warrior"-wasn't down with that one though.

Part-time role Logan??

Big Country was such a great band.
My brother bought all their albums so it´s definately not a one hit wonder,
at least not for us.

Stuart Adamson´s death was a big shock back in 2001.

Fiction Factory has some other good songs, so check em out for sure. At least look for 'Ghost Of Love' off of the same album as 'Feels Like Heaven', it's tremendous.

-Just wanted to add that I love Big Country too. When they get it right, they are quite brilliant.

'Throw the Warped Wheel Out' is actually a pretty good album. FLH is clearly the best song, but there are others that are pretty good. Like SA says 'Ghost of Love' is pretty good, so is 'Panic'.

Here's some one-hitters I always liked (not including 'Feels Like Heaven' and 'Melt With You' which have been mentioned):

Angry Anderson - Suddenly. It's tacky but I liked it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DnwnW_d81U

The Assembly - Never Never:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvQVSbaDSig

Desireless - Voyage Voyage. Eurocheese at its finest:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PDmZnG8KsM

Halo James - Could've Told You So. Not great, but I have fond memories of them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3qv1jcIbGo

Cocteau Twins - Pearly Dewdrops Drops. Their only hit in the 80's - so it counts!:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdEHbdjyCJ4

Ennio Morricone - Chi Mai. His only 'hit':

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skk9vfoUJXc

Furniture - Brilliant Mind:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JeEXP717T0

It's Immaterial - Driving Away From Home:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uwtzINMDCQ

Joey Scarbury - Believe It Or Not. We all love it really!:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsWgG5v7A3A

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHYOXyy1ToI

Killing Joke - Love Like Blood:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVgMEsMZdcQ

Lotus Eaters - First Picture of You:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaZtG-j6njc

Maisonettes, The - Heartache Avenue:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgmUwhfoSZs

Martha & The Muffins - Echo Beach:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvqjYxeTODY

Mental As Anything - Live It Up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4hRBA8Q3IY

Orange Juice - Rip it up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No2ukc5V4EM

Westworld - Sonic Boom Boy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9DMUnhfOQo

When In Rome - The Promise:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HI_xFQWiYU

Vangelis - Chariots of Fire. Yes! This is a classic!:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukUHi2o2FCo

Swallow all of that!!!!

It's so weird that you mention that, I heard that song on the radio the other day for the first time in forever!

lol...What's wrong with some Jermaine Stewart?! It's still a great song, a few different people have covered it over the past few years. I know he had other songs, but "We Don't..." is by far his most popular.

They weren't one-hit wonders. In the UK they really weren't one-hit wonders!

I'm playing with you. Jermaine Stewart doesn't get mentioned much, so I guess he ranks lower on the nostalgia 'hierarchy'. I have no issues with him at all. You like what you wanna like and don't let someone like me stop you!

People like me make me sick!

However, I do disagree with the premise of the song... I think we really do have to take our clothes off to have a good time! [Eek!] [Wink] [Eek!]

Come to think of it, did Patrick Swayze record any other records; if not, "She's Like the Wind" more than qualifies as well.

I might like you better if we slept together. So snotty! Love it. Had success with "Girl in Trouble" too-so may not be a one hit. They did a VH1 Bands Reunited....that was a good show. Loved the Berlin one.

Liked "Only the Lonely" by The Motels too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaPTELylZ1s
and "Suddenly Last Summer"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9Ox-lGm-wA&feature=related

Thought about Aha/Take On Me-but the song and the video are so intertwined in my head, it was such a breakthrough concept. Remember HBO's video jukebox? Loved that 1/2 hour show!

There are many that I really like, including "Take on Me" by a-ha, "Something About You" by Level 42, "Fascinated" by Company B, "If You Leave" by OMD, and "Heart and Soul" by T'pau.

That said, I ADORE "Under the Milky Way" by The Church. It wasn't really a big hit here in the U.S., but I think it should have been.
