Tonight me and a bunch of married women I work with are going down to the casion to see Warrant and Firehouse. They're leaving the hubbies at home to hang with Sammy.

I'm hoping that since Jamie St. James is the lead singer of Warrant that they'll sing a couple songs from Black N Blue his previous band. Either way it should be a good time.

The concert was really good and we all had a blast. The bar that sponsored the fun bus had so many people sign up that they ended up taking two busses. So it was pretty cool having a caravan of our two busses plus a couple limos that some of the radio stations contest winners got to ride in making the fifty mile journey to the casino. Was a pretty rowdy trip on the way down as the beer flowed smoothly for most of us. Sitting across from me on the bus was a guy I graduated high school with that I haven't seen since high school; so that was pretty cool.

Firehouse opened up the show and sounded great. Their lead singer can still hit the high notes and their guitar player and drummer were both really good as well. One doesn't realize how hard Firehouse actually rocks because the only songs you ever hear of theirs on the radio is all their ballads. But once you see them in concert you remember hey these guys actually have some balls.

Warrant was next and they were good but not quite as good in my opinion. Cool to see that two of the original members are back in the band with the re-addition of guitar player Joey Allen and drummer Steven Sweet leaving ex-Black N Blue lead singer Jamie St. James as the only non original member of Warrant. Both guitar players Joey Allen and Erik Turner took turns on lead and both still sounded really good. I loved Jamie St James as the lead singer of Black N Blue but his vocals weren't quite right for Warrant in my opinion. Some of the songs he sounded pretty good on and others I think he fell a little short. Maybe it had something to do with the acoustics in the pavillion. Was real glad that Warrant did include "Hold on to 18" a former Black N Blue song on their set list and St. James really shined on this one.

Highlights of the night for me were

Firehouse:

Love of a Lifetime
Don't Treat Me Bad
All She Wrote

Warrant:

Down Boys
Heaven
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Hold on to 18

Both groups played for approx. 80-90 minutes so all in all I'd say I got my money's worth.

Why isn't Jani Lane with Warrant still? I thought I heard that they patched things up a few years ago.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

I was wondering that too. I saw them a few years ago and he was still with them.
