Re-Animator: Been waiting to see this one for a while and I was not disappointed. Jeffrey Combs totally steals the show in this one as the eccentric Herbert West. Oh, and you haven't lived until you've seen a headless body choke a re-animated zombie that's crushing the eyes of a decapitated head. Then there's the scene with Dr. Carl Hill's (David Gale) disembodied head and a nude Megan Halsey (Barbara Crampton) on an operating table. I don't want to say anymore about it because it's something you have to see to believe (and describing it in words would probably not be appropriate).
Missing in Action: Often dismissed as a second-rate First Blood, I actually enjoyed this over-the-top but fun post-Vietnam War actioner. This is mostly a one-man show for Chuck Norris in the role of James Braddock, as he machine-guns, karate kicks, punches, and shoots his way through an endless procession of Vietnamese soldiers. The shot of Braddock rising out of the water in slow-motion is epic in every sense of the word. On a side note, when I read that Chuck Norris did this movie in memory of his brother who got killed in combat during the Vietnam War, my respect for Chuck went up a lot. I recommend it for fans of Chuck Norris, Cannon Films, post-Vietnam War action movies, and action movies in general.
The Deadly Spawn: Probably my least favorite of the three, but this 1983 alien-from-outer-space flick still has a lot to recommend it. Chief among the good things in The Deadly Spawn is the absolutely impressive monster, a three-headed, fanged slug-type monster that reproduces smaller versions. The gore effects are also very good and plentiful, especially for a regionally-made movie that cost 25K to make. It does get a bit talky at times and has a few pointless scenes, but the monster does show up frequently and there are some gruesome but well-done kill scenes I still liked it. The ending defies mere description, so check it out.

trancers from 1985 directed by charles band. great little sci-fi movie starring the excellent tim thomerson and helen hunt which is fun from the off & moves at a cracking pace(a short running time -76 mins.)and features some very imaginative action scenes and effects considering its extremely limited budget,to think this was made for an estimated 400,000 us dollars is quite unbelievable! trancers trailer - http://youtu.be/eg7OPwASvE8 .

Watched The Karate Kid on blu-ray....even got to catch a couple of the "extras". Very neat that in the interview with Ralph, he relays that he still has the old yellow Ford that Mr Myagi gave him for his birthday.....that's pretty cool....

Re-watched One Crazy Summer (1986), one of my all-time favorite summer movies, two nights ago. I've always thought of it as a companion piece to Better Off Dead, but with a completely different setting, characters, and plot. That's no surprise, considering both movies were directed by Savage Steve Holland (who I'd love to see make a comeback and show today's crop of directors how teen comedies should be done).
One Crazy Summer is a special kind of comedy for two reasons: it's non-stop hilarious from beginning to end and it never gets old on repeated viewings. I haven't checked to see if anyone else here has started a thread dedicated to it, but there are so many great scenes, quotes, characters, and other things we can discuss. I'll share some of my favorite moments from OCS, courtesy of YouTube:

Last night, I watched Cocktail (1988) on the Internet. Tom Cruise, Bryan Brown, Elisabeth Shue. Directed by Roger Donaldson. This film is so bad it's good, no wonder it even won the Razzie for Worst Picture!

Not all of it (cos a friend of mine STILL has my dvd....) but I watched a load of clips from the 1982 Steve Martin classic, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.
A while back, I wrote a bit of fan fiction based on this movie, detailing the only other case he refers to in the movie, The Case of the Murdered Girl with the Big T*ts.... read and enjoy!
