- This is a classic. Movies made in today are nothing when compared to this one. They just don´t have a chance. Linda Blair is awesome and the soundtrack is fantastic.

I have never seen "Someone to Watch Over Me", what's it about? Is it good. I like the title, when I like the title of a movie, then it makes me want to see it.

Berenger is a working class NYC detective who gets to protect upper class murder witness (Rogers). He´s a man with a family but can´t help but fall in love with Rogers´ character.
I liked the slow-paced feeling in this one and all the actors did a good job.
I think that you could like this movie.

I use to think Tom Berenger was so good looking in The Big Chill....but he was so creepy in "Looking for Mr.Goodbar".
There was a movie he did in the 90's, called "Shattered"- I haven't seen it since back then...but I remember I thought it was really good.

My mom used to love Tom Berenger. If he was in a movie she'd watch it! I haven't seen Someone...either. I'll have to check it out.

I watched Shattered about three weeks ago. It´s a good early 90s thriller.

- This was hilarious post apocalyptic B- Action/comedy. Rowdy Roddy Piper is Sam Hell and if you liked his style in They Live, you´ll sure like him also in this one. While not as good as They Live, this is still quite entertaining flick.

I watched "The Thing" (1982) on DVD last night. One of the best scary movies EVER!

I watched American Gothic. It was actually good. Ma and Pa and their kids sure were weird.

A great forgotten classic that really transcends it's genre. I love how they mixed the more contemporary Springsteen songs with the period music (kind of what Dirty Dancing did 4 years later):

I hadn't seen it since opening night in the theatre.
I had forgotton some of the talent that was in that flick. Gerrardo (Rico Suave..I did a double take but confirmed in the credits), Damon Wayans..or was it Keenen Ivory....one of em....even Jack Nance has a bit part (from all the David Lynch movies). And of course, I had no idea Don Cheadle was Rockett, the main badguy in the film....
overall impression: god damn this movie looks dated. Even in the background shots all the cars look like late 70's to early 80's, but the film came out in 89. Of course all the gangsta's are poor and riding around in vintage 70's hoopties, and not the super blinged-out gangastas we got used to in the 90's and 00's.
The story still holds up but its kind of funny, I can't buy the gangstas anymore when I know that one is Rico Suave and another is an oscar winning actor today. What is amusing is looking at the vintage Los Angeles skyline and advertisements.
