Just watched Great Outdoors the other night, which was on one of the movie channels. I'm sure I'll watch it again this summer as well. This movie gets me laughing every time and also revs up my need for a vacation up north in WI. It just puts me in a real good place all around!

Watched both italian Cannon Group Hercules films (1983 and 1985) directed by Luigi Cozzi and starring Lou Ferrigno.

Very silly but entertaining stuff and i can´t help but love those old school sfx and various eeevil monsters.
The first one co-stars Sybil Danning with outfits to die for [Wink] and the sequel has lots of pretty ladies including Serena Grandi.

Just re-watched Into The Night for the first time in a few years and it's a great movie with an untold amount of cool cameos I mean there's a serious amount of well known faces here,it was funnier as well than what I remembered and it made me laugh the sort of running joke of the bunch of goons (which included director John Landis himself) shooting everyone's pets that they encountered (I know I must have a warped sense of humour) whilst in pursuit of Michelle Pfeiffer and Jeff Goldblum who are in possession of some smuggled emeralds!

Also talking of Michelle Pfeiffer boy did she look seriously great here and her performance as well as Goldblum's was really solid and i must mention again the numerous cameos throughout which included the likes of Clu Gulager,David Bowie,Dan Ackroyd,Paul Mazursky,Richard Farnsworth,Vera Miles,David Cronenberg Jim Henson, etc etc as I think they definitely added to the fun!

I'm surprised I've never added this to my collection but I'm going to remedy that sometime soon and pick up the Blu Ray probably the U.S release which seems to be the better version to go for!

Anyhow a really fun watch and I'm glad I paid it another revisit! 8/10

*Batteries Not Included (1987)

I used to watch this one a lot when I had it on video tape a long time ago. Just re-watched it again and still think it's a cute and enjoyable little family film. It really made me miss dear old Jessica Tandy who's just so sweet & lovable in this movie.

Starke Zeiten (1988)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122732/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Watched this very silly six-episode comedy.
The film stars various german actors with Michael Winslow, David Hasselhoff and Zachi "Lemon Popsicle" Noy thrown in the mix.

German humour, will i ever learn to understand it? [Big Grin]

With news that UK distributor 88 films are to release Porky's Revenge a Blu Ray release in the next couple of months I thought I'd give my old VHS of it a re-watch as it's been a couple of years since I last visited it!

I remember the first time of ever watching this 3rd part in the Porky's series I came away feeling slightly underwhelmed and though i had the odd giggle or two with it at the time i found it to be nowhere near as funny as the previous two entries in the series!

Since numerous re-watches over the years I'm wondering if I was just in an off mood that day as with each further viewing I've found this sequel to be funnier and funnier and for fans of the series I think it wraps thing's up pretty darn well!

Most of the gang return and I like the fact that Chuck Mitchell is back here as the main protagonist Porky Wallace and that his casino/brothel is now on a huge river boat plus you have Nancy Parsons continuing in her role as Beulah Balbricker and as usual is subject to many of the gangs pranks but there is a twist in the tale as the film progresses!

Nudity is slightly dialed back here as I thought it was in Porky's 2: The Next Day but there's a scattering throughout and one of the big standouts of this flick for me was the killer soundtrack which features some awesome tracks from Dave Edmunds and George Harrison and fits in perfectly with the time period of the movie!

The late great Bob Clark doesn't return here and directorial duties are handed over to James Komack who does a more than capable job and all in all Porky's Revenge is a very fun 92 minutes and a fitting end to a very enjoyable series! 7.5/10

Sinbad of the Seven Seas (1989)

This was a so-so Sinbad film from the Cannon boys.

It´s a family movie starring Lou Ferrigno who looks like a rock star and John Steiner is the main villain.

The film includes few nice looking monsters but let´s face the fact, this is just a silly, latter day Golan/Globus made-for-kids fairy tale.

Some Kind of Hero (1982)

"A Vietnam vet returns home from a prisoner of war camp and is greeted as a hero, but is quickly forgotten and soon discovers how tough survival is in his own country." (IMDb)

This was a disappointing film IMO.
It was originally intended to be a straight drama but the studio insisted that Pryor perform comedic scenes as well and it just doesn´t work.

The film features rather daring (in ´82 at least) sex scene between recently deceased Margot Kidder and Pryor.

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Some Kind Of Hero, it's by no means over hilarious though it does have its moments but it's very well acted at times and has an interesting cast including the late Ray Sharkey.

Critical Condition is another of Pryor's 80s movies that got torn apart by most which I also don't dislike and Bustin' Loose which also received a bit of a lukewarm reception was pretty enjoyable as well!

Street Trash (1987)

"A liquor store owner sells alcoholic beverages to homeless people, unaware of what the bottles actually contain: toxic brew." (IMDb)

Street Trash was released here on blu so of course i bought it and watched it first time after some 30 years.

And i loved every second! This is so rude and dirty film you can´t help but like it. PC? What PC! [Big Grin]
And what´s most important, they make fun of everybody and everything. Not just one race or group.

The (mostly unknown) cast and characters rock, the sfx look cool and it´s suprisingly very well made film overall. Highly recommended! (if you find it offensive, you´re just too old [Wink] )

Thanks for all of the reviews & info. everyone. As an '80's fan, I thought I knew about most of the movies released during that decade. But, it seems that almost every time I come to this site I find out about a "hidden gem" that I've never heard of - the fact that a lot of them are being released to Blu-ray (or, earlier, on DVD) helps a lot.

Have never seen "Some Kind of Hero" but definitely plan on doing so soon. It's gotten a lot of critical acclaim. RIP Margot Kidder & Richerd Pryror.

I've seen "Into the Night" several times over the years, and recently re-watched this. Great story, and nice scenery of downtown L.A. in the late night/early morning hours. IMHO this movie is best watched late at night [Smile]

Have never even heard of "Street Trash" before the last post, but it definitely sounds like something I would like to check out. It actually sounds somewhat funny & sick at the same time, and it sounds somewhat similar to the storyline for "The Stuff", a mid-'80's low-budget "horror" film.

The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981)

"When an ordinary woman is exposed to a unique mix of chemicals, she begins to uncontrollably physically shrink." (IMDb)

Pretty lame 80s version and debut for Joel Schumacher as a director.

Lily Tomlin is not one of my favorites and she has a double role here. Charles Grodin plays her husband and is just a shadow considering what he can do when he´s at his best.
The supporting cast includes Ned Beatty, Henry Gibson, Mark Blankfield, John Glover and Rick Baker as a gorilla.

The film criticizes consumerism but the jokes fall flat or are just plain silly. I liked most of the sfx though.
This started as a John Landis project but he left when the studio cut some 20 million from the budget.

It was fun to spot all the little things like the car shaped kid room bed, Galactica and Chips posters, Hulk shirt and Creature from the Black Lagoon mask (homage to Jack Arnold).

I guess it´s not really that bad but i can´t really recommend it either.

Watched Up The Military aka Basic Training (left of the VHS Cover) the other day and it was a pretty likeable though at times ridiculously silly film that whilst not overly hilarious still had plenty of chuckles during it's 88 minute running time and the cast which to me were mostly unknowns were fun to watch especially the gorgeous Ann Dusenberry in the main role of Melinda a real go getter in life who has just landed herself a new secretarial job at the Pentagon plus on top of this there's no shortage of skin on display and a catchy theme song that rounds things of just nicely for what was an entertaining watch! 6/10

I won't post the trailer as it contains nudity but it is over on YouTube for anyone that wants to check it out!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun (1985) for the first time and though having my doubts enjoyed it greatly and I must say I really liked the cast here what with Sarah Jessica Parker,Helen Hunt,Lee Montgomery, Jonathan Silverman the late great Ed Lauter and a very young Shannon Doherty.

Music and dancing was pretty ace as well plus it was actually quite amusing at times and overall it turned out to be a much better watch than what i had anticipated! 7.5/10

Agnes of God is a good '80's film. It stars Jane Fonda as a reporter who is investigating the possible abortion?! of a nun's child. Very disturbing drama, and IMHO one of Fonda's best films.

Well I just caught parts of a Vacation marathon on TV last night, so that was fun! Vacation, Christmas, and European. I was hoping for Vegas to come on next, but good thing it didn't, because it was getting way too late!

"would you like it in the can."
