It was great to swing by for awhile; I didn’t make it through to the end (ludicrous time differences and all) but glad Valley, Muffy and Secret Admirer had such a good time.

The cube / paper triangle confidential notes was a girly thing, Valdude: You had to choose a number, they'd work the cube back and forth and lift a paper triangle with something random written on it.

Watching Sixteen Candles again, reminded me how Hughes always set up a cliché based on a set of prejudices, and then smashed it to smithereens. This approach to writing characters would blossom in zenith with The Breakfast Club but can be seen in almost every JH movie, here I'd say the Jake Ryan character best subverts a stereotype.

I wonder how Alley Sheedy (as Samantha) and Jim Carey (as Farmer Ted) would've fared in the roles or whether the proposed sequel: '32 Candles' will ever be made.
